U.N.E. fire team, 257 Cpl. Jerek Malinsky: Journal entry number 17. It seems as if it was only yesterday that my fire team was slaughtered by a platoon of C.O.P. desert ops. I can still remember the panic caused by their arrival, and the short, violent fight that took place. It was after the C.O.P. decided to take Africa that my team was sent to investigate. What we saw was a ghastly sight. Mountains, and bases had been leveled by the orbital bombardment that came before the main invasion. I am no closer to safety than i was after i escaped from the fight. I must be walking in circles, because today i saw one of my comrades, or what was left of him mounted on some spikes in the canyon. I am running out of food and water, and don't know how long i can avoid the enemy. I have officially deemed my map useless, but i keep it just in case i might find a recognizable place.
