I refer to G2 as pertaining to characters in the G2 comic series and related G2 versions of the original toys released in the late 80s early 90s

you are right about the G2 colour scheme yuck.and thanks for telling me.

G2 = Generation 2 an attempt by Hasbro to remarket some of the g1 favourites in weird colour schemes to get the next generation of kids to buy them in the 90s. Megatron in this encarnation was a blue and green tank (yuck) not a gun. I think there was a comic series and they showed old G1 cartoons with a new entrance theme if I a not mistaken, I was into girls at that time so I don't remember. LOL!

The vehicle mode looks great, you can't even tell that it transforms. Of course, the robot mode suffers a little because of it, but overall it's great. Still very pose-able and well-proportioned.

Good decision to make it this color scheme. The head is genial, just like the rest of this fantastic transformer! Whenever I see such a great one I feel like making my own, but I have no idea which one to build :( However amazing work!

Ball Joints is my advice, they give Lego Transformers life and poseability. Also check out my many Optimus designs here on MOCpages and those of builders like Louis K and many others who have built exceptional Primes from there you will get great design ideas.
