8038 Set Alternative - "The Snow Leopard"
Squid Suckers in Set Alternative
About this creation
The Snow Leopard is a fast, advanced tank used by the Rebel Alliance in the Battle of Hoth. Although not seen in the movies, or found in wookieepedia, you'll find it... in my brain. It has 2 major laser cannons, 2 minor laser cannons, and 2 blasters. The visors over the pilot's shoulders are straps to keep him in the tank when it moves quickly (it can move up to 60 MPH... and he's standing up!). I used set 8083 (Rebel Trooper Battle Pack) for this set alternative, and although it is a tank, and the set is a tank, I never built the set or even looked at the instructions. So please forgive me for any minor similarities, as there are only 79 pieces (+ extra pieces they send).

All the pieces used in this Set Alternative

All the other pieces I didn't use from the set

Thanks!

Ok, I'm not a fan of the body parts, but the visor use is genius! Great job, keep building and ignore the people who leave mean reviews. PS, congratulations on being on " Most Discussed"

Quoting Phazezorz . Much as I could (and would love to) rant and drove how what I'm doing is much more effective than what you do, it'd be no use, because, inside your own little bubble, only certain things are 'good' and 'bad'. It could all be assumptions, but I find it true. Now, Flare, presuming this...thing decides to press this further, please have no hesitation to delete these comments.
If this "thing" continues I will simply lock the comments on the creation. I'm not offended by your comments.

I've seen great things come from battlepacks. Look, like Dave said, you could have picked a larger set, even if it was partially/completely destroyed. And, as Yuri said, there are many more possibilites to that set. That being said (repetition FTW), it's blocky, small, boring, and seems only a small fragment of effort was put into it.

Excuse me Phaze, I've heard a bit about you, and read some of your comments, and most of them are'nt good. Constructive criticism is one thing, but this isn't constructive at all. So, if you don't have anything nice to say, zip it. Oh, and Flare, great job.

:P Wow...this is awesome! I love alternitive set designs. Good job Flare! Hey, Lee Jones! Yes, you! I think you need to take another look at this, this time with BOTH eyes open. I don't think your giving Flare enough credit. He's made something awesome with just a few pieces. (no hard feelings, of course) :)

You're hampered by the set you chose. I would rather see a larger set that you could do more withm or use all the parts from the set. 2 points.

Quoting Giovanni Seynhaeve I follow you Flare. The judging can be dissapointingly low considering the work you put in. But it's the result they're judging. And thinking outside the box is an issue here. Too bad, hold your head up, and on to the next!

Well, it is a clever design, but it really isn't up there on the wow factor. You have some good ideas, and you know how to build - so let's see if you can build as well as you can talk. Two (2) points. Now get back to the drawing board and wow us. Lee.

Flare, I'm staring at the pieces right now, and I think there's room for a decent/nice mech/hardsuit... hmmm and even maybe a nanoscale space ship, if you also use fig parts :)

The best thing that probably could have been made from that set.I don't really think of this as a tank though, more like a landspeeder.

Quoting Ryan T. If it was so hard, you should have just used a different set. I got 2 points on my castle from each judge, and I was fully expecting a mix of 3 and 4.
Dude, I don't have any other sets to use. Except a clone battlepack but that would look even worse.

Quoting Yuri Fassio Nice, but to me this has the same problem as other entries in this category: no matter how nice, you chose a the parts of a SW hovertank and built a SW hovertank... 2 bad, 2 points :(
GARRRGGHHH!!! But you must realize that this set has nothing better to build! This is the third thing I've tried, and nothing else and I repeat nothing else can be built out of this set!! And I don't have any more sets that are together to build from.... >:|

I like this! it has detail, interesting design, and looks original. One detail I liked was the goggles used as a guard to hold the driver in his seat.
