An entry for the movies contest on the brickarms forums
About this creation
To those of a younger generation, Arnie wasn't always the Governor of California you know. Back in 1985 he made one of the best cheesy action movies ever, Commando. My entry for the 'Lets go to the movies' contest is a moment captured from the bulletfest finale. Arnie plays John Matrix, a retired special forces colonel. Some really dumb baddies kidnap his daughter to make him perform an assasination in the fictional south American country of Val Verde, but he doesn't go for that. Through a series of inreasingly OTT encounters he battles his way to the island for a rescue while killing everything in his path.

Trapped in a tool shed, injured, surrounded by the enemy, he fights his way out using the tools! He stabs a guy with a garden fork, crotches another with an axe (foreground here) takes out a couple of guys with circular saw blades like Shuriken, then the moment I built here, chops off one guy's arm with a machete! He then scoops up a fallen LMG and proceeds with more shooting.

Not many photos, because you can only show a poor victim's arm coming off so many times.

FUN FACT! In the original script he was supposed to hit the guy with the severed arm and say "Need a hand?". Classic.

A great little MOC. Your ways of building is becoming more interesting and creative. I'm loving the severed arm technique. I like that your capture a scene from the movie and created it into legos. I also see that you used the Army on Patrol set figure torsos for the "enemy". A great set for this scene. ~ Ghostman :)

Quoting Matthew David One talent of other builders that I always envy is the way they can use new techniques to turn a simple detail into a great one. You show that on the lamp hanging over the door. The overall attention to detail here is simply gorgeous. I haven't seen this particular movie - primarily do to the fact that I pass over anything with governator's face on it
Thanks for the very kind words Matthew. But you don't watch Arnie movies? As a child of the eighties who loves an action flick, I have to query your sanity! I suppose his films have largely been cheesier than than a wheelbarrow full of Brie, but he has been in a few gems (gems despite his starring role) - The Terminator and Total Recall spring to mind. I love Commando (of course) and Conan too, but I will freely admit neither was going to win awards!

HA! This is excellent! The building is very well designed, but the look on the chaps face whose arm is being ripped off is priceless! Bravo my English cousin!

hehe, 'My soldiers are patriots, Mr Bennet.' 'Your soldiers are nothing! Me and the Matrix could kill em like that! In the blink of an eye...'

O.M.G, Arnie in the Gardeners tool shed, that scene was brutal, and this Moc totally depicts it... Great stuff again!

I've only seen clips of this movie, but based on those clips, I'd say you pretty much summed it up quite nicely with this moc. Oh, and while Val Verde may not be a country, it's actually a town about 10 or so miles away from where I live.

They trapped him in a tool-shed? *Facepalm* What else, do they plan to lock the A-Team in a warehouse?

Quoting Yuri Fassio Awww... I so want that line to be in the movie! It's my dad's favourite action movie :)
No matter how many quotables that film has ("Let off some steam Bennett", "I let him go") I wish they had left that line in too. Should I feel old that it's your dad's fave action movie Yuri and not yours? On a good note for me, I came second in the contest! Brickarms freebies hopefully heading my way soon.

Looks like I missed this one. You did a great job capturing a shot of the action. I think that the most overlooked detail here is the light over the door. It really adds a great touch to the scene. Nice work! -Dylan
