Mocathon entry. Category: Apoc/Post Apoc. Coffee and a control board. Always bad news.
About this creation
The place: beneath the Kremlin, in the central nuclear weapons control facility.
The date: March 14th, 1957.

As Comrade Petrov works the graveyard shift, he enjoys a nice cup of boiling coffee.
In front of him are two major control systems: one for personal entertainment to keep the button pressers happy, and one to launch the missiles- all of them.
Guess which one he's spilling his coffee all over?

He reaches for his coffee; "Whoops! Stop! Stop! No no no no nononononono..." he says, in an atrociously stereotypical Russian accent, as the cup is pushed over rather than being slid to him. Boiling hot Soviet carbonated napalm-coffee begins to spill.

Comrade Petrov can only see two ways this can end: it soaks into the panel and the Apocalypse starts (and he gets shot), or it doesn't spill (and he gets shot).

And wouldn't you know; some swineski in the communal cafeteria thought it'd be helpful to shake the can before he poured it. Option one looms, as the cup tips in slow motion.

See? There's the obligatory Red Star. You can tell he's Soviet at a glance.

N-e-way, sorry for being inactive, but I've been busy...
totally not playing Silent Storm 'till 5 in the morning
...doing things.

So, I'll just leave you with this: the end has not yet come.
Interpret as you will.

Quoting Matthew Novosad I dislike it when that happens. Actually just happened to me today, but with juice. The fig's expression is classic! BTW Could you do this guy a "favor" (He can't take constructive criticism, he deleted my constructive criticism (I gave it a 1/5 for it lacks effort, and he called my comment "rude", then commented on my moc saying if I do that again he is going to report me.) and needs to hear from the one of the 2 masters of constructive criticism) http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/188647 (it really isn't my MOC)
Well, I can think of two options; he's a little kid, or he's a mentally challenged 21 year old. Either way, he won't listen to anything I have to say. Not that it matters; look at your oldest photographed MOC and imagine what would have happened if someone told you to 'work harder' on it. Nothing, probably.

Thanks for the kind words, all. Just as a note: I've done the exact same thing here. Not with coffee, but one could say I was lucky that keyboards don't short circuit easily. Don't need to be clumsy to do it, just temporarily not paying attention will do.

Hahaha. Very funny vignette. That clumsy guy is funny.

Well, it is a nice build, and it certainly follows the requirements for the category. In this case the build is a bit small for my tastes for this category. Nice vig though. Three (3) points. Lee.

Quoting Dave Kaleta It's nice. Minimalism. I just want to see more. Maybe if it had some really innovative or at least exciting techniques I could award more to this. 2 points.
Believe me, so would I; if I could, I'd have a whole row of terminals, each with an operator casually tempting fate. Regrettably, that's just about all the control panels I have right there.

Quoting Yuri Fassio Wow... I'm stunned: you achieved so much in the theme with such an essential build... this vig is preposterous, revealing and funny at the same time, and worth my 4 points. Few MOCs caused such an emotional response in me during these games.
Thanks; I suppose the reason for the emotional response is the fact you can just see it happening so easily, eh? "Ah, hello Comrade, I see you found some filthy capitalist blue movies. Care if I- WHOOPS! Who left that cable there? Uh oh..."
