Heavy duty, reliable and very versatile is this 7-wide semi truck, pulling a 5-axle, 8-wide low-loader trailer for all kinds of military (and civil) craft and machines.
The current freight depicted on the photos is a medium-to-large, heavy transport helicopter and gunship of the type KAAI MH-81 “Bear” (will be posted later as a separate MOC).
About this creation
The semi can hold two minifigs in the cab and features pretty crazy SNOT techniques within the “nose” construction! It has been partly inspired by Mike Psiaki’s "7-wide Truck" as it can be seen on FLICKR (Link at the end of the page!)
To the trailer:
For freight of the size of the “Bear”, the steel ramp boards (for the loading of vehicles) can be detached and fixed to various places on the trailer. The trailer is designed to provide instant precision take-offs and landings right from the truck – an important detail facilitating quick start-ups for which the “Bear” is designed.
Unhooked from the semi, the trailer stands via a hydraulic support arm, of which the hull serves as a support of the helicopter’s tail.
Here's the truck, unloaded:
And its heavy cargo, the "Bear" helicopter...
Seeing the loaded truck from the side really points out the dimensions of the chopper:
Getting back into building…
In order to get back into building after almost a year of “absence”, I decided to make a few smaller creations before continuing my cargo plane. So this truck and helicopter are the first models I made for a long time…
Why building a “heli truck”, and why military?
Maybe some of you may remember a former LEGO set in minifig-scale, consisting of a black long-nose truck, a grey trailer and a small chopper. I loved that one when I was a kid; it was so versatile and fun to play with. So I decided to make my own one with modern building techniques, military and "heavier" – so I could use most of my grey pieces in a productive way. Well, this is what came out of it…
Ratings, comments and constructive criticism are appreciated!

Great details and overall feel. The icon of it in your folders instantly drew the eyes to it, and there is no disappointment close up.

This set of truck, loader and helicopter does me remind the set of the movie "Universal soldier". Especially the color, greyish white makes it looks big and really dangerous! |
