Here is my attempt at a large section of a castle. I find gatehouse to be very important in the appearance of a castle, so I made mine first. I re-worked it a couple of times and this is the best version so far. I plan on making it part of a smaller castle; more or less a keep with a wall surrounding a courtyard.
It is made to be classic-castle city compatible. This sort of modular design allows easy transport and reworking of the castle's layout.
I hope to finish the rest of the castle over summer break.
The winch mechanism raises and lowers the portcullis. There is a ratchet which holds it up in place till the bar is lifted, and the portcullis falls down.
Wow. That is really neat. I love the work on the stone path, the stone walls, the outside details, the color scheme, the fact that it opens to show a beautifully done interior, the archway, the gargoyles... Let's just say that I like it. Super job, dude. I wish I was that creative.
