Big Technic Citroen 2CV
Because not all big Lego cars have to be fast..
About this creation

This is a model of my own 2CV, hence the colour scheme including the designs on the doors - pictures of Winnie the Pooh painted by a previous owner - people smile wherever it goes. Occasionally they laugh...

I worked a long time on this model, using 80s Technic bits for the chassis. It has a flat twin (naturally) driving the steered front wheels and a two speed gearbox with trailing arm suspension at the rear - nice long travel and soft just as it should be!

All the doors open, as well as the bonnet, bootlid and the front part of the roof. Even the vent flap opens.

I've given the body as much detail as I can, with mirrors, lights, wipers, doorhandles and a fuel filler.

Inside, the seats move fore and aft and the rear bench is removable in the same way as the real thing. I still think the dash isn't quite there but I'm working on it..

Hope you enjoy this change from the supercar norm as much as I did making it.

Haha, I agree with you! Big cars don't have to be fast. Don't believe me, look at my CT200H, it'll explain everything. Like it mr. Barrett, the 2CV is one of my all-time favorite cars. 5/5 (BTW, like the Pooh-bear on the side, awesome stickers)

Absolutely stunning and very close to being one of my favourite creations of yours, along with the DS and NSX. I love the accuracy and colour combo with decals, no 2CV is complete without funky pictures or flowers on the side. I love the sound these cars make and the way they eagerly lean into corners, certainly makes me smile :) You have inspired me to dig out my old technic and try something oldschool and classy. Any suggestions?

Quoting Fred Ottens One of the funniest, most characteristics cars ever made, and you really did it justice! ( And I'm afraid there are some serious grammic faults in this comment!) ;-)
Thanks Fred. Good to hear from you!

Superb doesn't even describe this. The 2cv is my favorite car, even if it has only 30 horsepower. We have one, but we have giraffes drawn on the side. And I can say you have mastered its look and personality.

Ah... the car the Volkswagen Beetle was heavily inspired by (to the point of a lawsuit, in fact). Great work, the custom paint on the side is a nice touch.

Quoting Jort van Wijk Hi Nick, really cool! My brother in law is a true 2cv fan, I would like to give him a pack of bricks so he can build his own. Do you have a list of bricks you used, or a building plan? thanks in advance for your reaction.
Thanks Jort. I don't have any plans or lists for this, but I can tell you I used an 8860 car chassis set for the chassis and a ton of yellow bricks and plates for the body. That'll get him on his way. Good Luck ~ Nick

Ahhhh, what a beautiful car and build! A friend of mine used to have a 2CV a few years ago and we had lots of fun with it. Dou definitelxy nailed the shape and the vibe of this cute little car, also called "Ente" (duck) here in germany! Very well done. ~Marc

Hi, I write to you to know if you have a Brickshlef account to find more photos ? Especially under picture to see the suspension bar. 2cv has a atypical system of suspension (in the frame with only one bar per wheel. Thanks !

Sorry no brickshelf account. I did the suspension independent by single trailing arms as per reality but only the rear of the model is suspended. The front should have single leading arms linked along the car to interact with the rear arms.

That is impressive! Very creative and original. I love how you sculpted the body, too. Isn't it frustrating how few "tan" colored blocks there are in circulation?? If you could build it in tan then even the color would match perfectly too. (I had the same color issue with my 1987 cougar build... the real car was tan but I built it in yellow)
