The home of Uhtred of Bebbanburg and his wife Gisela. this was the brain child of great books and a boring report. Enjoy.
About this creation
This creation is the house of Uhtred of Bebbanburg and his wife Gisela. This house is not at all accurate, but is my attempt to build Uhtred's house in Lundene, or London. Uhtred is the main character of the "Saxon Tales" series by Bernard Cornwell. These are possibly the best books I have read and are based upon the life of a fictional character named Uhtred. Uhtred is a saxon in the 9th century A.D. who is captured by danes in his youth. It is with the danes that he learns to fight. Through his fighting prowess, he eventually joins forces with King Alfred of Wessex who eventually drives the danes out of England and becomes King Alfred the Great. These historical fiction books are very entertaining and amazing and I recommend them to all readers. the first book is called"The Last Kingdom.
Here we see the red bearded Ragnar, Danish friend and adopted brother of Uhtred. Uhtred, who killed Ubba Lothbrokson by the sea,(If you read the books, you will understand.) is the fair haired man with his sword, Serpent Breath. his wife Gisela stands nearby.
"Come and see my home"
The full interior of the home of Uhtred
The lower level. Each level lifts off for playability.
Uhtred in all of his warlord glory and a drunk happy Ragnar behind him. Ahhh for the good old days...
Gisela in the kitchen that is without utensils. my lego collection is not yet complete.
the top level of the house, with bedroom and armory/storage area.
Ragnar with weapons.
Uhtred and Gisela in their bedroom.
Gisela waves goodbye to you, oh kind and enlightened visitor. Uhtred stands and looks imposing(or at least tries to.)
Please read these books. Even if you are not a big reader, they are full of adventure, nice and bloody and very interesting.
P.S. This creation came from two sources.
1. The best book series EVER!!!!!!!!!
2. A Medieval project I am doing in a class. i was making a speech on medieval daily life and saw a picture of a medieval city house. i needed a break from boring and built this. if only we were allowed to have visual aids. Oh well, teachers are no fun.
Rate, Comment and
READ THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really like the house and I really like the series (and everything Bernard Cornwell has written). I hope you had an opportunity to check out "Everyday Life in Medieval Times". There are 3 books, one on castles, one on towns, and one on ??? Anyway, I learned a lot, and lots of good pictures too. Everything I know I learned by reading historical fiction. Some would say "Only too true!" Very Best Regards, Jim in Atlanta
Have you ever read Conn Iggulden? His books about Genghis Khan, in the historical Fiction genre, are just fascinating. they are a very good read. |
