Colonial Raptor
Colonial Raptors are used as tactical support vessels to Viper squadrons, as well as performing independent reconnaissance missions. They are equipped with a short range FTL drive, and are capable of atmospheric flight.
About this creation

Deployed from the main hangar bay, Raptors are unable to launch through the tubes in the same manner as Vipers.

Accompanying a Viper Squadron, the Raptor utilizes its more powerful DRADIS system for early detection, and interrupts enemy communications.

Raptors can be equipped with a variety of external weapons packages, such as these missile batteries.

The Raptor has proven itself time and again as a reliable and versatile ship in the Colonial Fleet.

Quoting Wes Pitter A similar thing happened to me with the windshield. I knew it was a Raptor waiting to be built. I'm having the same color difficulty with my version - a lot of the parts I need for it aren't out in dark tan. They're not even all there in dark bley, but I'm trying that anyway.
Yeah, dark tan is THE color I think for this bird. My Heavy Raptor is dark bley, and I think it works pretty well as far as color goes. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/256651

Quoting clayton Marchetti This is the best looking raptor I've seen . The windshield is perfect. Love the twin tails. Awesome!
Thanks! I suppose dark tan would be the best match to the one in the show, but I like the black. I remember seeing the new Agents sets a few years ago, and a helicopter with that windshield. I knew that was the one!

Quoting James Dart All I can say is... Wow. I was going to attempt to make my own raptor until I saw this. <sighs> I need to convince the wife to let me buy more legos. heh. Being 41 and 8 kids makes it VERY difficult to built collections. Maybe in another 10 years as children leave the nest.
Dude, it wasn't that long ago I was right where you are. Although 8 kids: Wow! Surprised you have any energy for Lego! But kids are a good excuse, especially if they're interested. As far as the Raptor goes, check Bricklink for that windshield, and get started!

Quoting Archon Caledonia Barto -- I envy how you used that canopy for the windshield. I spent most of today working on a build for my new Marine minifigs (Series 7). I wanted a Lego brick style design that used that screen but ended up scrapping the initial build and idea. I have been looking at your Raptor here and all but want to stay away from any hints of a copycat. Anyway, great ship and I envy the technique!
Well, there's a certain amount of similarity between anything using this canopy, due to the dimensions and design of it. It really is the Raptor windshield, and there were plenty before I built this. So build whatever you want, Dude! (PS: You forgot the smiley)

Quoting Marshall H Total versatile craft. I don't think the Viper squads could overcome Cylon attacks without them. Sweet!

Quoting CC-3636 "Wolffe" Looks good!Good conversion from screen to Lego!I like the photoshopping in the pic with the raptor in the maintenance (?) bay!
That shot is supposed to be inside the landing bay of the port flight pod. It's a mixture of the minifig ship and micro surroundings. Probably one of my favorite pics. Thanks, Dude!

Quoting The Lego Animal (Jay Rhum) How come I didn't come to comment that before?! A tough vehicle, with the Bart's special photography touch! NICE! =)
I went with all black instead of the dark tan like the show. As far as the series goes, I think black makes more sense for a stealthy ship. Thanks, Dude!

Quoting MortalSwordsman . ... Oh yeah. Kind of looks like a cross between: Airwolf, Slave 1 and an Apache Gun Ship!!! Three awesome things rolled into one - awesome :)
It's a multipurpose vehicle. In the show, it's used as an awacs type escort for Viper squadrons, recon, and transport. Thanks for the comment!

Top notch, it's the best Raptor I've seen. And as everyone else before me has said, I like it better with the black. Although aren't the Raptors supposed to have small fins under the wings, otherwise great job.

Quoting Smith Smix I love yours too, I don 't like very much Battlestar Galactica But the ships remains beautiful. And even in LEGO! I do not make many big and "uniform" creations, my choice of parts is very small ... But I'm glad that someone loves them (: (Oh, and, sorry for my bad english :|, i'm french)
Thanks for the comment! Your English is just fine. Way better than my French would be!

Quoting Greg Stringer-Bates Awesome MOC my man. Love the seat detail. Looks great in black too. So far I have found it impossible to decide which colour I like it most in and now you've gone and added another. Cheers.
Thanks. Too bad they don't make a Boomer minifig to sit in that seat! Anyway, there's a new charcoal color I saw in an Atlantis set that would look good, too. But the tan is the most accurate to the show, I think.

Quoting Ruud Hoogmoed Always good to find models from Battlestar Galactica. You've succeeded very good to capture the shape, it looks great. I like it very much!
Thanks. What's tough is photographing these things. That's why I like to take them outside for better lighting, but not at this time of year--8 degrees F !
