2010 Star Wars MOC-off Tournament R2: Expanded Universe
Round 2 of the 2010 Tournament involves any scene, figure, ship, etc. from the EU. Since I've never played the uber-popular Force Unleashed game, I decided to stick with the tried and true microscale Star Destoyer....
About this creation
The category for Round 2 was Expanded Universe. I'm a big EU fan, but unfortunately lacked the pieces for most major scenes. I've also never played the Force Unleashed video game (no 7th-gen consoles) or read the novel, so that was a major setback. (I am aware that the TFU: Ultimate Sith Edition is available for PC and Mac, but it's not on my budget. Less games means more LEGO, and I'm sure you all realize that it's easier to convince Mom to buy a constructive real-life piece of plastic than a newer, more violent video game. So, I decided not to attempt a giant diorama, and turned back to the famous Legoarts clip-based micro Star Destroyer. Like my ISD, it uses primarily clips to attach the plating, but uses the Technic spine from the VSD. I know it's a far cry from Jonathan P.'s entry, but hopefully the judges will see the complexity and techniques, not just the size.

Size matters not. -Yoda (but you probably already knew that)

What am I, a professor? No more Star Wars wisdom, a picture is worth a thousand words! I mean a holo.

Why choose Legoarts?
Armament

Never again will the Rebels escape your grasp! Purchase the Legoarts Immobilizer-418 interdictor cruiser, and stop the Rebels in their tracks! Four gravity-well projectors prevent your quarry from escaping into hyperspace, and 20 quad-laser cannon smash them to bits!* So buy, buy, buy! Buy! Now!
*No machine is fail-proof. Legoarts does not guarantee success, and will not assume responsibility for losses. Devices may or may not 'smash enemies to bits', depending on a variety of unpredictable circumstances.

Propulsion:
An accurate two* engines propel our Immobilizer through hyperspace and realspace.
*I took some creative liberty here. There were no definite pictures of the rear end, so I used the arrangement from this twin-well concept art.

Detail:

Although it measures only a half a foot long, our cruiser has the Legoarts standard of incredible detail. From the spherical gravity-well projectors and correctly shaped bridge to the waste disposal hatches and the pattern of studs on the rear plating, no other Interdictor at this scale can claim to have more detail than ours*.
*Yet

Scale:
Our Interdictor packs in more accuracy than the average Star Destroyer (including LEGO's official ISD), but measures a mere 22.5x9.5x7. Perfect for display when your military career comes to an end*.
*Legoarts does not guarantee a successful career, and yours may come to an end in a number of ways.

More Pics:

Just to give you an idea of the complexity of this MOC, here's an exploded view: Partial credit to Brian Williams on Flickr for the technique of attaching the 3-wide domes.

And the LEGO Blueprint makes another appearance: I'm growing rather fond of these.

Another job job well done.

This is the best Immobilizer I've ever seen! It looks exactly like a concept art picture (except for the studs, but a few tiles could fix that). And now, to the rating: Construction: 30/30 Originality: 20/20 Minifigs: 5/10 (I like the stormtrooper for scale) Detail: 20/20 Accuracy: 20/20 Total: 95/100

I never realized how complex this was. You have once again achieved a high level of detail on something this size.

Quoting MOODSWIM :) Very nicely done! I too have never played this game, so I'm not sure what this ship is, but it definately has the distict ISD shape.
Ship's not from TFU. It's in Empire at War, which I own.

Quoting Rusty S. My only gripe is that a blue technic pin is showing, and it kind of distracts from the rest of the Moc.
I found my gray ones right after finalizing the pics. Figures....

Quoting Chris Phipson It's been a while since I had to read Aurebesh... Nice work on the ship too! Good luck in the contest! ~ Chris.
WOW! A Phipson Comment! It does occur to me that I misspelled 'Immobilizer' in the pics, though....

I have seen litterly hundreds of mini Star Destroyers and this has to be one of my favorites. How did you get the aurebesh in your pictures?
