Starbug 1 from the TV show Red Dwarf BBC. Construction Journal
About this creation
My Bricklink order has come though and I have once again re-built some sections of the ship and actually finish parts of the ship of to a great standard, On to the photos.

You can now see that the frount cockpit section now has a roof, I still need to buy some green tiles and plates to join it up perfect but the roof cap st the moment is 1 plate higher than it should be.

Now that the First sphere is complete the black lines do give the ship a more textured feel, I think!

Here is a important photo now you can see the LEGS it has taken alot of work for those legs to support the weight of the ship, I have even suprised myself in that the legs do not boe or do the splits one bit. "Now that is solid engineering"

Here we are with the roof cap off, I made a few small changes to the cockpit mainley the pipes in the rear corners.

With the cap of it feels like I have cut off someones skull cap and im about to get to the juicy brains.

The cap back on now and the brains where only slightley poked, "I'm fine thankyou Susan"(RD Joke). You must admit she does mave some serious curves.

Another cockpit shot you can now see the juicy details. Once this ship is finished I might do some stop motion animation with it and recreate some of the Red Dwarf episodes.

Here we have a new table and more seats than last time, I'm also proud of the textured wall of grill plates at the side of the stairs as they mach the TV episodes perfectley.

Again more grilled textured walls I will try to repeate this technique thoughout the ship. We even have some funky looking pipes!

We are now deep in the cargo bay in the rear sphere looking over the AR (Artifical Reality) room, This room was a challenge as in the show this room / technology changed alot from a seated arangement to a standing one wearing helmets. At one point I built a rotating AR suite but it really did not seem right and was overley complex. Im trying to make Starbug look baroon and old remember it is a mining ship.

It seems my photos are not in order we are now back in the cockpit with a close up of the pilots controlls, There are way to many levers here no wounder why Starbug has crashed so many times.

Another random shot of the midsection the door to the right will eventually lead to the medibay and the engine room on the middle floor of the rear sphere.

The cargo bay I love my addition of the yellow pipe in the wall (top) I think it is there to provide power to the AirLock.

A coridor shot of cargo bay 1, cargo bay 2 is to the right and is basicly very dark (The light bulb is being used for the Yellow alert bulb in the cockpit acording to space corp directives.

Another shot of the AR room we also see 2 pipes again this time with valves have I mentioned Starbug is powerd by unleaded petrol (gas for you Americans) engines!

A beautifull shot of the frount legs taking the weight. The ship is very heavy now soon I wont be able to lift it over my head anymore. (Yes starbug is built strong and is swooshhhhable.

You can now see where I need to make the alterations to the Frount spheres roof, bricklink here I come.

A briliant side on shot, the curves really do stand out. I can't wait untill I get onto the engines as the curves there will make you blind.

A overall shot, Starbug is now really impresive I still have alot more work to do and some parts need changing for more suitible colours but I will get around to that.

On my next update we should see the start of the rear sections middle floor and maybe an attempt at the rear legs. I'm still not sure if Starbug will be able to stand with its legs so wide apart especialy as it curently only at half its weight!

Goodbye for now, will see you again soon...

You are getting this dot on. Red Dwarf is a funny series, and I NEVER knew that the ship ran on unleaded petrol!

This is great! I love the amount of detail packed into this thing and the round shape is an excellent idea. -Sam
