A giant moving platform (with power function) which holds a landing pad, a monorail and a lot of other features.
About this creation
Excuse the horrible quality of the images, the model was dismantled before any good pictures were taken because of lack of power from the engines. Its is currently under re-construction, will be bigger and will feature both power functions and pneumatics!
This station holds a monorail terminal, and was able to move (very slowly) to a monorail track and automatically connect to it with magnets. However the experimental techniques were not sturdy enough and most of the time the monorail would crash while entering the "Settler". But a few succesfull times convinced me that this can be done with more work to it.
The red crane was also functionnal and capable of lifting the red science frigate on and off the landing pad. The station had a couple lights to light up the landing pad and some of the cargo rig.

Wow. You've done such a great job hiding the studs that it looks like a normal toy. Looks like it would be fun to play with, too. Too bad Lego can't put out anything like this. |

J'aime beaucoup l'idée de la station mobile géante! Le thème jaune de construction est très bien rendu, il ne manque plus qu'une vidéo pour voir l'engin en action! :) |

Thank you for your comment!
I have thought of adding a third base... but that would require a very complex steering technique and many motors ;) The version i'm building now is still linear because de landing pad is gonna be a long rectangle. I have plans for another mobile shipyard that uses giant wheels and is triangle shaped (tripod). But no idea when i'll get to build that ;) |

quite interesting, look's like something from the Megamovers show. any chance of it becoming a triangular construction. |
