Mad Inventor Sir Edmund Carter-Clayton has developed the urge to explore outer space.
About this creation
They told him it wouldn't even get off the ground, but Sir Edmund listened to none of these such remarks. He just kept on building his rocket engines in the basement of his summer house. There was talk for awhile of having him committed, but police authorities called to the scene informed bystanders that Sir Edmund was breaking no laws and he certainly wasn't doing anything that might be harmful to himself or others.
All through the long summer of 1899 he toiled, on into the spring and summer of 1900. Finally a bright July day came and Sir Edmund came up out of his basement and looked out at the crowd standing around.
"You'd best move back a hundred feet or so." he called out to them, "These powerful engines will kick up the dust a bit, I should think."
They all laughed and ignored him. With a shrug Sir Edmund went up to the third floor where he had installed the controls and settled himself into the comfortable arm chair. Leaning forward, he gave a little smile as he jabbed at the big orange button on the console. A low, throaty purring became audible and he moved a lever up a few marks. The purr became a roar that drowned out the screams and shouts from outside as his neighbors scrambled to get away from the hot exhaust gases which poured from the rockets. A loud of dust and steam surrounded the house as it began to lift slowly into the air.
Dozens of onlookers stared in shock, amazement and horror as the house climbed steadily, high into the sky, finally to disappear behind a cloud. Later on that evening astronomers were able to catch sight of the departing Sir. Edmund, his house heading in the general direction of Polaris.

I suppose the time you took to make this payed off, cause it looks great.
Thank you. It's not yet finished, though. I'm slowly working on the interior, which is quite a bit bigger than the exterior. |

You have way more patience then me then... how long does it take you to make these
This one took a day, off and on between other tasks. I don't do them straight through, though, except for the Lyssul gun ship which seemed to come together in half an hour. I also tend to stay away from greebling, though I like the look of it, but I like putting everything behind solid, heavy armor and shielding. The exceptions, of course, being sensors and weaponry. And the bridge, even though it should loggically be in the very center of the ship. There's always the chance that enough sensors would be taken out so that the bridge crew has no way of knowing what's going on out there, thus the high bridges with clear fields of view. |

Very original and the rockets and landing gear are cool. Nice job.
I must confess I am pleased at the responses this got. I'm currently putting together the interior, and the structure is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. I got that idea from Heinlein's "And He Built A Crooked House" which is a great short story. |

Watch out, everyone. Moggy and Lt. Commander Starr are both really ticked off right now. Not only has this brash aristocrat zoomed past them, but his ratings and views are both more than theirs combined! I didn't expect this at all. Gonna have to get busy, making new Mocs for those two. |

Sir Edmund is one of the members of the aristocracy who believe that nothing is so unless you believe it to be so, and vice versa. |

I rarely comment on digital MOCs, but this mixed style caught my eye. Funny concept :)
I was at some friends' house and we were discussing Victorian Era science fiction when a trailer for UP came on the TV. Some weird connection clicked in my mind and I came up with this. I plan on introducing all sorts of weirdness via Sir. Edmund and his rocket house. |

wow, interesting concept here. I'd like to see some shots on the interior! 5/5
Yeah, um. That's going to surprise you. It sure surprised me, when Sir Edmund wirelessed me the plans! I'm working on them now. Tell you one thing; it's way bigger than it looks! |

By the way, if anyone's interested, Sir Edmund greatly resembles Paul Darrow, and has a personality remarkably similar to that of Avon. |

Nicely done Robert! I could really use a house like that. Cheers.
It has become an interesting phenomenon. Nova's not too happy about it, but that's too bad. For a long time she was top Moc around here; then Moggy passed her up. Now HE'S upset because Sir Edmund shot past him like - a rocket. Boy, if those three ever got together and got into a fight - might cause a space time rift! |

This could rival Klementina's relax house in terms of convenience! We do not have to climb to the top of the mountain. This house will instead fly up and land on top of the mountain! You're on to something. XD
I'll be posting the interior in another week or so. Sir Edmund has made great use of something he calls "folded space". |

I'm working on a Moc of the interior, also. It seems Sir Edmund has also discovered how to make "folded space". |

I like this! I have never tried to use a virtual lego program, but I like how it looks.
It's fairly easy. But, pieces are limited and using it can lull you into shortcut design if you're not careful. I sometimes have to make myself proceed as if I were building an actual model, using support and bracing techniques. You can put a roof together in LDD without anymore than a 1x1 peg as a base! |

Ya know, there have been times when my wife and I have wanted to just launch ourselves into outerspace, too, hoping the mothership will pick us up. Anyway, fun little idea for a build there. Hope Sir Edmund remembered to stock the fridge! |

Space flight on the cheap, eh? Third world countries could stand to learn a bit from this gentleman, I think.
Who would have thought the old guy would succeed? And who knows what kind of fantastic adventures he'll have before he returns, if he returns. He might decide to just keep on going. Maybe he'll run into Bill Conner out there. |

His former neighbor, Mrs. Oglethorpe is kind of upset about her peonies, too. But, I'm relieved he made it out out the grav well. I hope he took along enough tea. It's a loooong way to where he's going. |
