My entry for Round 1 of the 2010 SW Tournament. This one's a little different: I'm paired up with Michael Qoyawayama against everyone else, most possible points per entry is 100, worst three teams are out.
About this creation
The category was build anything from the '03, '08, '09, or '10 Clone Wars TV series. The vig had to be between 16x16 and 20x20, with no height limit. I chose to do Liberty on Ryloth, mostly 'cause I love the scout troopers I got for X-mas, and I had a Twilek. (that's the Bib Fortuna from Jabba's Message) Little Easter Egg: The pole next to the plasma bridge emitter is all that's left of my Kamino Diorama, the first in a long line of contest entries.
Going from bottom up,

^Not in the episode, but I had to use up this space. If you have a mountain, add a cave. If you have a cave, add a dragon. And if you have a dragon, put Ahsoka in his mouth.... :P

^"It's not my fault they turned off the bridge while I was on it."
This was one of my favorite parts of the vig, how the smashed droid is just reaching for his scanner.

^Here's the main battle. I really liked how the plasma bridge turned out, and how the beam from the clone's rifle is lined up with the barrel.
More pics: In the last one you can see a Recon scout on the cliff face.

This scene looks familiar....
Another pic:
^One level up from the, uh, treasure room is the command center. A Twilek and a clone charge in, and the commander proves that, contrary to kiddie opinion, clones are not nearly immortal.

^Our last stop is the landing pad. Above the command center, Battle Droids franticly attempt to evacuate Emir Tambor's treasure. Obviously, they're no better at keeping the treasure in the box than their comrades underground.
More Pics: (Judges, here's proof that the vig is indeed 16x16. Some of the 'figs extend out, but since the limit is 20x20, the model is perfectly legal)

awesome! some of your best work yet! this may sound a little clonetardish, but what is going on in the room with the guy kneeling before C3P0's head?
Easter egg reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark. I Star Warsified it by replacing the idol with 3PO and Indiana Jones with Han Solo. |

Very nice, I like the concept, although the rockface looks a bit... unatural, maybe it would be better if you had used smaller slope bricks. However the rest is very well done, in what set did you find the trans-blue plate?
Huh. Seems like most people are more concerned with the rock than the 'treasue room'. ;-) Anyways, the rock face is kind of small because (a) I ran out of brown. All the slopes here were pulled off the MTT; and (b) the addition of the tunnel makes the mountain pretty unstable as is. Imagine if the model were taller. The plasma bridge is an 8x8 trans-blue plate, from some Bellville Snow Castle Thingy that my sister dismantled. She's finally making the transition from bigfigs to minifigs. I was able to borrow it, in exchange for Sharpieing all here clones. |
