The Hand is my first attempt at making a robotic hand that can move like a human hand. It had some of the flexabilities that a human hand has, but it was still a long way off from being as good as a human hand. Once I get more parts I will put a arm on it. The fingers move by a motor pulling on a long plastic tube that is attached to the fingers. I tried to make it work like a human hand. The plastic tubing takes the place of tendons and the ruber bands take the place of the ligaments.
The Hand is simply that, a robotic mimic of a human hand. It of course was a long was from a human hand. The neat thing about this project was that it got interest from a college student (back when I was just a softmore in High School, 3 years ago) who was planning on building his own based on mine for a college final. The touch sensors are not shown in the pictures, however they were used as a way for me to control the movement of The Hand incase any one was wondering.
Your robotic hand is truly an amazing feat with conventional Lego Robotics. You seem to have a good grasp of the principles behind how it works; it is exactly the way that some real tendon-like grabbers work. Great job!
