This series of mocs depicts the year of 2009 through the eyes (And hands, I guess) of yours truly, with some Wikipedia assistance. I have highlighted the moments that have stood out through the past year from january to december, In an attempt to create the year with the brick. Please comment and rate!

About this creation

January 15: Pilot Chester 'Sully' Sullenburger crash lands US Airways flight 1549 in New York's Hudson river. All 155 passengers and crew survive the crash.

January 20: Barrack Hussein Obama is sworn into the Oval Office as the 44th president of the United States. He is also the first African American to become President. Within the first few days of his Presidency, He signs a bill to shut down the Guantanimo Bay detainment center in Cuba, which had housed Non American citizens accused of terrorism..

February 1: The Pittsburgh Steelers face off against the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl 43. For the Steelers, the victory is by a last minute touchdown, ending the game with a score of 27 to 23

March 2: Insurance giant AIG reports a staggering loss of of $61,000,000,000 (billion) during the fourth quarter of 2008. This reports Puts the Wall Street Stock Market in shock, and the Dow drops 299 points, furthering the recession.

April 12: President Barrack Obama authorizes US Navy snipers to take out three Somali Pirates who had taken the captain and crew of the Maersk Alabama hostage. The operation is a success, and the ship and its members are safely taken back to the US. open seas piracy is still an ongoing problem, and navies are cracking down on the pirates who attempt to pull off these acts.

May 13: Tornadoes ravage the Missouri areas of Green city, Novinger, and Kirksville. Tornadoes are also reported in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Illinois. The damage is incredible, and the tornadoes leave three people dead, and many more homeless.

June 25: the king of pop (AKA Micael Jackson) dies in his home. Jackson was set to play comeback concerts Across the globe. His autopsy reports reveal that his death was cause of a Cardiac Arrest from an overdose of medicinal pills. His death is later considered a homicide, with his doctor at the end of the stick.

July26: Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin resigns from office, sparking much discussion of a possible 2012 run for the presidency.

August 4: After disscusions with Kim Jong il, former president Bill Clinton returns two Journalists who wandered into North Korean territory back to the States. We may never know what happened on the flight home. Hehehe...

September 27: French/ Polish film director Roman Polanski is arrested by Swiss police on an American arrest warrant for innappropriate acts commited in America during the 1970's.

October 15: The whole nation watched as a homemade hot air balloon that appeared to have a young boy inside soared over the countryside. As the balloon crashed, the young boy crawled out of the attic of his house. The incident was soon found out to be a hoax, and the boy's parents were sentanced to prison.

November 5: Psychiatrist Major Nidal Malik Hasan kills 12 military personel In a shooting at Fort Hood military base before being gunned down himself.

Let's just say he was using his putter for something other than golf... Tiger Woods crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a tree at 2:00 AM in the morning in an apparent fight with his wife. He is now reported to have multiple mistresses, and has become fodder for the late night comedians. Best of luck to ya Tiger!

@Trevor W. Somers is right, you can't just blame a whole group of people for something that just a few people did, and anyways, the reason you only have one set under the Christmas tree (receiving 10 seems like an over-large number anyways) is that Bush just left a big mess that Obama had to clean up! Your irrationality makes my brain hurt (It's okay to delete my comment if it's too argumentative for the 'pages, I just get annoyed when someone says something like that).

hahaha! omg. this was really cool to begin with. my particular favorites are: the somali pirates, the superbowl, and how you made the recession moc. that was very inventive. Also, is that sarah palin's daughter with a baby??? if so HAHAHAHAHA! however, the climax of this moc was definitely the end - that tiger scene made me laugh out loud, literally. brilliant

To throw the blame at one side would be wrong, because both sides are to blame as well as the people. The last minute bailout to the banks with the Bush administration had no positive effects, (As the bankers gave themselves bonuses) And the bailouts in the Obama administration have yet to take real effect. The people themselves are to blame also. Many people were taking money out of their homes to buy expensive things like cars and boats which decreased the home value, and sent the real estate market into a tailspin. Taking a look back into history, you will notice that at the time of the Great Depression President Hoover issued bank bailouts as an immediate response to the situation, without further analysis of the problem; much in the way the Bush Administration issued their bailout. The people today also struggle to keep credit in check in the same way that the people 70 years ago did.

Quoting Ben The Lego Builder This MOC is briliant! I love all the vigs you used and I learned some new things that happened this year. Did you know they discovered water on the moon this year?

Yep! Maybe i shoulda added that one. Nasa sent a craft that targeted a crater on the moon that wasn't exposed to the sun, I believe, and the craft had two explosive charges. When the craft hit, the charges went off, and a cloud with water dispursed off the moon containing somewhere around 21 gallons of water. If i'm correct. Did you know that?

My whole purpose behind this moc was just to summarize the major events that happened in 2009. I'm not saying that I like or dislike the guy; I'm just portraying significant events in the ongoing story of America. Again, there is no political bias here, just a guy with bricks and a summary to show and tell.
