About this creation
Ok, finally getting around to catching up on some posting. I had a Zoids phase a little while ago; some of you may have already seen these on Flickr, if so, ignore this.
These guys proved much more trickier to build than I thought. I didn't try to acheive the level of detail of the real Zoids toys; I was finding I was running out of slopes and technic bricks all the time, so these versions are a little simpler. Also I didn't stress about trying to squeeze a minifig into a cockpit but merely give the impression of one. Laziness rules. Still, there's no denying they were fun to make: what's cooler than a Lego robot T-Rex covered in gunz? Nothing, that's what! I'm really finding as I'm building these that I enjoy creating stuff in a toy-like style: simple joints, bold bright colours, etc. Could it be after three years I'm finally getting my own style???
First up: the Kill-us-all-rus! This took ages to make (for me anyway: about two whole weeks!) and by the end I was just sick of looking at it. It's ok but I had something much cooler in mind...

Code name 'Bludgeon' Ankylosaurus type
This guy gets the most air-time cuz I wuv him and he was a joy to make! A special thanks to Arthur Gugick for providing all that black cheese for the armour plating. The legs are simple and unjointed, just like a cheap toy.

Buffalo Type heavy assault
Something missing with this one. The body looks too undefined for some reason. Started off in a Predacons colour scheme (which I love) but couldn't make it work, ending up with this.

'Cheetor' Recon type
Arthur also sent me a truckload of orange parts, which was cool cuz I think I only had about seven orange pieces prior. I started off with a curved back but relying on hinge bricks made the spine too clumsy, so he got a rigid spinal upgrade.

At first the skinny legs looked funny, so I tried bulking them up a bit with more orange but it stated looking slow and heavy so I kept them anorexic to give him that lightweight, sprinter fell. Check out the purple variant, thanks to a bit of photoshopping.

MERRY CHRISTMOCS TO ALL!
Be good kiddies, or Santa will bring you Bionicle instead!
Just kidding Yuri ;)

arg! zoids! welcome to the club of zoids builders, and yes, its members are in the single digits. the guns have a great zoid-y feel to them, especially the K-rex. and to point out my zoids-based nerdiness, im going to point out the resemblances to real zoids! the first one looks like a cross between gojulas-giga cannon and a geno breaker. ankylosaur was a bit tricky, but it looks like elaphander and cannon tortoise BC with just a splish-splash of cannonry molga. buffalo looks very similar to dibison and its upgraded form gravity bison. and the cheetor just looks like a stripped down lightning saix. believe it or not, that was all from memory. ::sigh:: fear my lack of life. |

Haha, I remember when this show was epic. It was my favorite. It died fast for me, mainly because we got rid of our cable for about 2 years. |

Ok, I actually saw Cody G's raptor looking Zoid before this one because of your comment. Amazing! This really takes me back! The 80's were the best with the half-hour toy commercials that passed for cartoons! I've been tossing around the idea of doing M.A.S.K. or GoBots. Great work Mr. Ocean and MOCy Festivus!~H |

Cheetor is the only one I really like. But... WOW, it's awesome! Maybe because of the sleek figure, or because he didn't fall victim of the Form/Function balance, or even 'cause I used stick legs a couple of times myself... Well, what counts is that I love it. |
