SW Tournament R3: Brickdoctor vs. [everyone else]
If you're confused about the title, Round 2 only saw 5 contestants move on, so Round 3 is every-man-for-himself.
About this creation
Category: Episode 4: A New Hope
Opponent: Every man for himself

I decided to do 'Escape from the Death Star', mostly due to minifig limitations. We were allowed to use custom minifigs, but I didn't recieve conformation of that fact from the Admin until after I'd partially dismantled and photographed the MOC. The only custom 'fig is Luke, who has a 'Sharpie-enhanced' home-print out of a KAM decal. (that's also why Obi-Wan and Darth have stock chrome sabers instead of custom LEGO-FX hilts. Enough talk, on to the MOC:

The Battle

We've got two Stormies, Luke, 3PO, R2, and Chewie. I don't own Ep. 4 Han or Leia, so just pretend they're in the ship. Or something.

Our friendly tour guide (me) takes you through the side blast door.... (the door can be opened and closed, more on that later)

The Store Room

Not much here, it's a store room, after all. Near the wall you can see some boxes, behind that, gears to run the blast door, and a fire extinguisher is clipped near the doorway.

We now take the turbolift in the corner one story up....

The Control Room

Here we are, the nerve center of all operations in Docking Bay 327. You can turn the gear under the armored viewport to open the blast door below. As the said nerve center, this room is equipped with lots of buttons (half of which aren't labeled properly) and microphones (so Vader can yell at you over the intercom), as well as a giant HDTV for playing LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga when the superiors aren't looking. I mean, with thousands of bays aboard a moon-sized battle station, what are the odds that you'll be chosen? Life is pretty boring when you're the 327th man in line.

"TK-421, why aren't you at your post?"
That quote brings us to the next section:

"TK-421, please respond"
'Nuff said.

We now go through the refresher exit...

The Duel

...and find out why TK-421 shouldn't use that door anytime soon. Nothing really special here, as far as building is concerned. The main object of this section is to provide a realistic background for the main pic. Still, there are lots of details. The vent in the ceiling doubles as a support for the room above (coming up next). Unfortunately, The blast doors don't move. They are supposed to iris in out of the walls, ceiling, and floor, and I didn't have nearly enough time or brick to do that. In dioramas and vignettes, I like it when every single piece is clamped onto the structure if possible, so Obi-Wan's cape is clipped to the floor between four plates, and the cape's natural tension secures the 'saber. Oh, and yes, that is a Chrome Darth Vader. <3

The Lounge

The Lounge features a hot tub, drink dispenser, weapons rack, and one Imperial-Standard-Issue-Army-Surplus 'couch'. Okay, so it's two pieces of cold, hard metal. Big difference. I'm really happy with the Beach Trooper. His legs are secured underneath a dark trans-blue window, and the waist pies is actually a blue 2x2 plate, which is attached to the tub's back wall to keep the trooper in place.

The stormie on the can is hilarious! Perfectly done. I say 9. But mainly just cause the vig floor is plain... This is AWESOME! Everything else is great. The toilet, the fan thing-pipe-thing above the toilet, etc etc... Congrats! You and Michael are tied. (Well, from me, we'll see what Jet says) Great job.
