Suburban Nightmares- Yonkers
About this creation
This creation has been loosely based off of the scene set by Max Brooks, in his novel World War Z. The story was that as the outbreak of Solonum (the zombie virus) spread throughout the East Coast, all of the undead were forced into a massive horde that made its way through Newyork and into Yonkers. Many lines of infantry were set up along the path the zombies were to take. It was expected that the front lines, armed with massive weapons, would take out the majority of the ghouls, but since the soldiers did not know of the proper ways to destroy the undead, the horde passed through all of the lines. The last lines had vulnerable infantry with no weapons. They were designed to take out the few that may have passed, undetected. However, they were surprised by zombies in the thousands that included men from the front lines (had they not been eaten completely. In many buildings, and in many people's yards, snipers tried to take out the monsters, but were unsuccessful.

"Why didn't they put us on the roofs? They had a shopping center, a couple of garages, big building with nice flat tops... You know where they put us? Right down on the ground, right behind sandbags or in fighting holes."

"I did my best to control my fire... 'Just go for the head' I kept telling myself, "Just for for the head...'"

"Remember! We are taking on the bulk of New York City's infestation!"

"There were five of them, a man a woman and three kids, they had him pinned on his back, the man was on his chest, the kids were on his arms, trying to bite through his suit. The woman tore his mask off, you could see the terror in his face. I'll never forget his shriek as she bit off his chin and lower lip.

"They're not afraid! No matter what we do, no matter how many we kill, they will never, ever be afraid!"

SHANNON ROCKS! But... he is a zombie.

Fourth Wall:

This creation is a part of Shannon Young's Vigorama contest. I know it has no genuine chance at winning after seeing some of the posts already... though I still love a good contest! Since this is now an overused genre, I also may lack the originality Young is looking for. Originally, this creation was filled to the brim with modified pieces (my classic mutilated heads), brickarms, and other non-purist elements. However, after reading the rules a million times, I realized that I probably should avoid these pieces. I cried as I removed them from the diorama. However, I kept a few pics with brick arms, so I can post those at the brickarms forums.

P.S. Shannon still rocks.

Such a great moment in World War Z almost as good as the German soldier Philip. I know you have retired, but when you do come back to check your mail and stuff, I emerged from the shadow and will be releasing new creations so if you have a moment to give some constructive criticism, check them out. Other than that, enjoy your retirement, you earned it.

Quoting Architect of Vonthako Wow - go many good building techniques! You mind if I borrow the design on that flamethrower for possible later use? I'll give you credit and post a link back to this page.
Of course. Don't mind at all.

Yeah those were some good parts. The Japanese man was near the end. It was about him going into the wilderness to die but ending up killing a whole bunch of zombie arse!

Oh ya... I don't remember that... was that in the beginning? I also loved the part with the wheelchair neighborhood watch guy, and the crazy south African leader.

Quoting Ribbits M Eh, I don't know about all those colors. I'd recommend trying to contain some of the chaos you've got going on here. Other than that, it's pretty darn good! I myself thought WWZ was fantastic.
Ya I know what you mean. But then again, realistically, he colors won't all go away just because some zombies showed up.

This is really good. I really like your integration of part of the storyline into your MOC.adds a whole level of depth to it that I find interesting. Makes me want to do more of this kind.

Awesome! I got kicked from the contest, you can see why in the questions topic. Whoopsies! Anyways, looks great! The ground and buildings look cool, and I love the gasmask (I think thats what that major pyromaniac is wearing)! Good luck in the contes, and I hope you win (I can't really compare to any other entries, cuz I'm banned, but good luck anyways)!

Nice zombie diorama. It might be a bit of a played out genre, but I think it's still got legs (although, perhaps severed or whatever). That book sounds good and the bit you described and based this bit on reminds me of a scene in 28 weeks later. Zombies, hey?
