My very first attempt on a Hot...no, Rat...erm, no a Tow-Rod.
About this creation
I don't know if this one qualifies as a Rat Rod. Unfortunately I am quite low on brown or reddish brown bricks and pieces - and in black it turned out a bit to shiny IMO. However, at least I'm content with the outcome. I let my imagination run wild and thus it doesn't resemble any specific car.
The name "Lucky Nutty" derives from the cuddly mascot I put on the radiator.
I used knight helmets as headlight housings.
Horn & signal-lights
Certainly we have suicidal doors!
The interior turned out functional, yet cosy. We have the common gauges for speed, fuel etc., steering wheel, shifter and lots of bare metal next to a red plush sofa.
The rusty working winch (my apology for the blurry pic)
...and the crane. Yes, I know I shouldn't bend my LEGO too much but the use of axles seemed to be the best way to achieve a filigree look. The bed uses some kind of very simple SNOT-techniques.
On the cargo bed we find a box of pop cans and a gas bottle.
The V-8 Big block...
Instead of just letting the exhaust tubes end "open" (I hope you know what I mean?), I decided to go for one big pipe at the cabin's rear.
The engine en detail
Top view...
..and below. See those gears and axles? They are connected to the gas can on the cargo bed I mentioned before and make up the HOG steering: Ta-daaaah!
...and the whole wrecker with other (meaner) rims.
I hope you like this totally different animal in our stables and comment & discuss.

Sweet! This is one of the best detailed large scale hot-rod-tow-car-truck-things I've seen. Just amazing. Regards, Eric. |

I just love this on so many levels. The detail at this scale is superior to most I,ve seen and the colour combination is great. You really know a good build when it looks like a store bought toy and as much as we love it the legoishness disappears. |

Hi guys! I wish to say a big "THANK YOU ALL!" Never had I even imagined to get so much praise and support. I'm really glad you all seem to like this one...oh, and I just wanted to make one thing absolutely clear: no cuddly critters were killed or harmed during building process. Cheers, Jens |

Totally awesome! Something out of the ordinary! Never thought of making a rod out of a tow truck, but this is good! Great job on the pipes, thats one thing I never got to look great. |

This is really amazing! The ideas of the whole back are very cool!!! Other things that are nice are the front. But I could just say the whole thing ;) Like Ape said, "This is the best rod I've seen in ages!"<<<>>>Well, I agree. This is the tow truck to call once you get stuck in the mud or hanging off of a cliff :) >>> But it's good to see another masterpiece from you! You're build so many things in such a short period of time! (Which is not a bad thing.) But just keep up the great work!!! ~Joe :) |

This is absolutely something else my friend, and aside from the MOC itself and it's beauty; I'm so glad to see you build again, it has been a long time since your last post, but this one well worth the wait, as Ape mentioned; one of the best Rods ever built, and this is no surprising coming from a great builder like you, hope to see more from you soon and thanks for all the great words on my latest creations, very much appreciated specially coming from quality builders like you. Keep on the amazing work >>> peace.. Firas |

The best part of LEGO is that you can build something that others haven't. Even if it is rod, this is definately a unique one + it's quality must make you very proud of it!! Quality and awsome work!!! |

The best Rod I've seen in ages! There are loads of great ones out there, and more are made every week, but I've not seen one as good as this for a long time. The details are on a different level to what most of us achieve. An easy 10/10, welcome to the Rod Club, it's a pleasure to have you as members : ) |
