The third installment in my sci-fi series "We're Not Alone"
About this creation
Previously on We're Not Alone: Omega squad was dispatched to the planet Mars to investigate what happened to the settlement there, and also what happened to Delta Squad. The commandos walked inside the bio-dome, and saw a dead police officer who was severed in two with lots of blood coming out of him.
"Alright men, judging from our friend here, we need to do a little investigation. We're not going to go in any of the buildings, that will be a waste of our time. See if you can find any evidence that something or someone was here, besides corpses. We'll split up. I'll go down the middle, Logan will go to the right, Ludwig will go investigate the left. We’ll all meet up at the command bunker. But Duncan, I have a special job for you."
"Did you see the solar panels yet?"
"Yes, I did. I saw them when we came in the bio-dome. One of the panels looks damaged." Duncan replied.
"Go fix them. Are you up for the job?"
"I don't know. Some times it takes a few minutes or sometimes a couple hours. If we want it done fast, I may need some help."
"We do want it done fast. If that thing goes out on us, we'll run out of oxygen and gravity sooner or later."
"Any volunteers?" Erik asked.
"I'll come." Ludwig answered.
"Ok it's settled then."
"Omega Squadron, move out!" Erik ordered.
Omega squad all went their separate ways.
Duncan and Ludwig walked towards the solar panels
and entered the small room inside of them.
Duncan turned and noticed someone laying over something.
He turned to grab his back to see if he was alive,
but when he did so, the body started to fall backwards,
and fell on the floor.
Duncan walked forward
and stared at the man.
Ludwig entered the room,
and stared at the man too.
"Is he dead?" Ludwig asked.
"Yes. He's got several punctures in his upper chest area. I think one popped one of his lungs."
"Yes. We have no need of his body in here, could you take it outside for me?"
Ludwig dropped his gun and leaned over and picked up the body. Duncan leaned over to grab the wrench out of the man's grasp.
Ludwig walked over to the entrance and threw the corpse outside. Ducan took off his backpack and walked over to the computer.
Duncan analyzed the system.
"How does this work?" Ludwig asked Duncan.
"Well, A photovoltaic module or photovoltaic panel is a packaged interconnected assembly of photovoltaic cells, also known as solar cells. When they are large enough, they're called solar panels. Solar panels take in sun light or rays, and absorb it which converts into energy which is electricity. The energy is then converted in this room and then taken into the building behind us where it is then distributed throughout the settlement. A photovoltaic installation typically includes an array of photovoltaic modules or panels, an inverter, batteries and interconnection wiring. If any of these aren't working right, then no power."
"Wow. How do you know all this?"
"During World War 3 I served in one of these for a short amount of time, plus I already knew a lot about them before it.
"Here we are!" Duncan exclaimed. Duncan and Ludwig stood back as the computer system illuminated and began to make different noises.
The computer then began to talk in a feminine voice, "System on. Warning!: Solar panel 3 circuitry damaged. Warning!: Power converter circuitry damaged. Solar panel productivity at sixty-seven percent."
"Oh boy, this isn't good." Duncan said as he walked over to the power converter box.
Duncan grabbed the lid,
and opened it up. "Just as I thought."
Duncan walked over and grabbed a lever,
and flipped it up.
"Grab your gear and the tools scattered on the floor. We'll have to fix the solar panels circuitry up there before we can down here."
Mean while, Logan was walking towards the right of the settlement. (Small red dot on the right)
Logan stopped and saw something off in the distance.
Logan contacted Erik, "Commander?"
Erik stood still, spacing out, looking at a fallen soldier, not hearing Logan's message.
Erik stepped back and stood straight.
He replied, "Yes Logan? What's the situation?"
"Meet me in the north east section of the settlement. You're not going to believe this."
"So this is why we lost contact with them..."
Logan starred at the massive satellite dish dismantled and torn apart. He was amazed the the electric-magnetic high voltage fence was torn down. Logan now knew for sure that they aren't alone.
Notes from the author: Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback up to this part.
I originally want this episode posted on Halloween, but due to Today, trick or treating, and school, I wasn't able too. Today I will be at a Chicago bears game because my sister won a contest in a newspaper ad, so she gets to go on the field and throw t-shirts, etc. We also won 4 tickets and I get one of them so I won't be able to check any of the comments or anything until late Monday or early Tuesday.
Also If you noticed, This episode is called Investigation Pt. 1. I originally wanted Episode 3 and 4 to be in one thing, but due to many different things and having WAY to long of an episode, I have decided to make it into 2 parts. Episode 4 of We're Not Alone - Investigation Pt. 2 will be posted hopefully Saturday, but most likely Sunday (I always shoot for Saturday, but I'm never done in time.)
If you look at the scene where Ludwig and Duncan are in the solar panel control room, You'll notice that the first pictures of it look really bad. I apologize, I had some problems with my lights that day.
Also in that same scene, Duncan says a whole lot of stuff that has to do with solar panels. I actually stole most of that from wikipedia, so if you think I'm really smart, I'm not. Sorry.
Also in that same scene, Ludwig says, "Yaah." He is a some-what stero-typical Arnold Schwarzenegger, Austrian person (Sorry to all Austrian people every where :P). Like I said I will have a "Meet the characters" thing coming out soon.
Alright thanks for reading guys, this episode wasn't as exciting, but look forward to the next one, it will be good!
Please comment, rate, add me as your favorite build, and look at the rest of my creations. Thanks.
Quoting ~ARC captain Chill (Rori)~
these Comics are amazing! truly inspiring! i even want to make my own squad now! (different of course). I added you as a favorite builder soo do you want to be allies?
Sure, I added you as one of my favorite builders and put you as an ally on my main page. You can make your own commandos, but make sure you say they're inspired by my comics. Thank though! I've never really have had anyone inspired by my work!
Quoting nickeal1 .
but the red-dot on the red landscape can be a little confusing on where it is. only problem. ~N
I will change that by only using white dots. I used red dots because of the color of the different squad member's helmet, but I will just use white. Thanks for the input!
Quoting Finn C-Q
So why did they have a out post there?
For scientific purposes.
Quoting Christian Schlichting What's a bit annoying is when the picture is bigger than your scene, build your ground bigger so that the picture ends without showing the edge to your table all the time.
I will do that, thank you Christian. I cropped some photos, but then the dementions look weird. Thanks for the advice! Expect improvents in the next episode!
Thanks for all the input guys!
I like the control room, make more of these sets and acamera work. What's a bit annoying is when the picture is bigger than your scene, build your ground bigger so that the picture ends without showing the edge to your table all the time.
