After messing around for a bit, I discovered a compact way to add serious firepower to any vehicle(Let me know if this has been done, since I haven't seen it yet). By using http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30397 these beams I was able to create a 24 rocket pod, that requires only a 4x3 space on the top of a vehicle, and it has great mobility. I got the idea from the rocket pods used in the Mech Warrior series.
