Casa Batlló
The "House of bones" by catalan architect Antoni Gaudi
About this creation
Gaudi made this house (a reformation) in 1904.
It is also called the "House of Bones" because of its strong visual aspect.
The house still exist in Barcelona (Spain) and can be visited by the public. (It´s even more impressive on the inside...)

"Las tres mellizas" (a popular spanish modern childrens animation TV series) did a special episode about Gaudi and his life (and works).

Overview of the MOC. Somewhat bigger than the Corner Café scale. Maybe even too big for minifig-scale¿?

The roof is a rendition of a dragon...

...and the tower is the sword of Saint George -encrusted in the back of the dragon!

Saint George is the patron of Cataluña. (The spanish province that has Barcelona as its capital)

Another "controvercial" element is the coloured spots. Makes the building look more like a big birthday cake, than a house, but I didnt want to leave the walls plain white.

Some details of the balconies...

...They should look like skulls, but I couldnt manage that in Lego. Sorry...

There are 130 coloured spots. All transparent. (Half of them green). Lot of work but still not enough. (-but I dont have any more)

Some more details;

Finally, a photo of the real building, for comparition;

-As one can see; the crazy colour scheme is actually somewhat realistic!

So, was Gaudi a nutcase -or a genius???

That is awfully good work! I love all the details you put into this, especially the roof dragon and chimney. Having seen this building in person (and loving Gaudi's work to bits), I can only approve and vote a 5/5 for this MOC ;). Oh, and he definately was no nutjob.
