The Assault Range Raider, the space pirates' favourite assault fighter!
About this creation
The ARR flat heavy fighter is a state-of-the-art (I hate this expression, it's an awfully complicated way to say "very well made") thinship with an horizontal configuration.
It's armed with a frontal ion cannon to disable ships without damaging them too much, defensifve disruptor turrets to protect its sides and a full set of missiles to deal with tough customers.
Also, a turbolaser turret is mounted under the cockpit.
Here we see Captain Breadfish at the controls.
If the ARR appears like this when attacking, you'll probably survive.
You only need to start worrying if you see it like this.
And finally, the real reason why pirates like it so much: it's the design!
The "masts" are actually a tractor array, pulling looted ships alongside the ARRs.
Cap. Breadfish and his flatship :)
When I saw Shifu's masterful TS Home Skillet I immediately wanted to make something new on the thinship theme.
Note#1: There are two pics I'm not happy with: I was unable to resize them to cut out the white part...
Note#2: There was also a previous Flatship "the Flemish" by Bruno VW. I simply forgot about it because the "flat" attribute was an afterthought just before posting it (it was going to be a regular thinship). I saw Bruno's comment on my Minimal Spinning Top and I remembered :)
Note#3: Ok, this made it to "popular this week". Why is it always system MOCs that make it there? I very rarely see a bionicle on the main page...
Addendum: I forgot to post a pic of Captain Breadfish, so I took the chance to update him a little :)
I saw it, I commented on it, but it didnīt show up! Anyway, the shape is really cute, it reminds me of a comic I once saw on TV. The black definitely says: I am deadly! Those thinships seem to be really fun to build. Great work!
love it could you look at Sith stalker and gen. Rham Kota

I'm seeing many "miniland scale" guys around, these days... what are exactly the proportions? (oh, and I finally made some Space Pirates, but sadly I didn't use any of your advice)
I love all the space pirate nonsense, and the pirate ship silouette is clever. If you have ever been to LEGOland, there's these giant lego cities with figures that have heads the size of a 4x4 brick. Look it up, they're really cool. I live a little bit over an hour away from LEGOland California. There was a western theme a long time ago, but the hats were really wierd. Great job! I'm going to build one now. I never heard of Flatships, tell me what you can, if you can, please. :) ~Blake~

Awesome. This is really good Yuri! You've proved once again, that you are the king of Mocpages!

Awesome reveal! I've always wanted to do something to trick the eye like this with Lego, but have never quite figured out what I wanted to build. This is very cool and inspiring.
Thanks. I'm always happy when some of my ideas can inspire other builders :)
OMG! On my way to work today, I was wondering about the horizontal configuration and about to ask you if I can do so, but this showed up! Awesome! I have another idea and it will be in horizontal configuration as well! I love the the "gotcha/a-ha" moment with this build! I especially like the "embedded" turrets!

Great placement of photos. I just could not wrap my little brain around the shape, and then there was that ah-ha moment when it all came clear to me as to what the shape was. Very clever.
Thanks. The "twist" pic was supposed to be the 1st (hence the 'shopping), then I decided for a "surprise effect". Glad to see it paid off :)
LOL. Great design on this thinship. I just have to sigh because suddenly everyone is posting their own thinships and I am only about halfway through my own version. Guess I will have to step it up and get it posted! Again, great design!
