A touring car inspired by my latest trip to Laguna Seca.
About this creation
Hi again :) I realize this is my first 4-wide for quite a while, so I wanted to come back with a bang. After last weekend's pilgrimage to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, I was inspired to build a touring car, which was one of the classes I saw race. Out of my love for Mazdas, I eventually turned up with a 3 hatch. The car is packed with new stuff, including many "illegal" techniques ;) Please review, and thanks for looking!

Low down rear angle. My personal favorite shot...

Front angle. It's true: touring cars do have yellow headlights.

Side view. Notice the lights in front of the rear wheel: those were in fact on the real cars, I don't know why. Also, see the slope of the roof? Yeah... :D That rear window was placed lower than the front one because it's true: hatches have a bit of a sloped back roof. This helps kill off some boxiness.

Rear shot. I can't believe I've never thought of using that piece underneath the car for undertray fins...

Front detail. I went for the biggest possible grille I could fit. I mean, we're talking Mazda3 here :D

Rear detail. Here you can see my latest breakthrough in 4-wide building: the rear lights. That's a funkily-placed "cheese" on top of another, giving a triangular and slim look. No, it doesn't "legally" fit, but that's the next step in building cars for me.

Here a hole-type-thing I added on the hood because I noticed it on a lot of the GT cars. Though looking back, all of those cars were Porsches, and I think this might be one of those rear engine things...

The interior has a headrest and a fire extinguisher.

Pit stop!

Wow, that's really interesting! Very detailed and well shaped, I specially like how you sloped the roof, and of course I love the taillights; even if they illegally fit, how cares ;) keep on the amazing work my friend >>> peace.. Firas |

This is really nice. I'm guessing that this was inspired by your visual encounters at Laguna Seca recently. I do like the tail lights even though that is one of those illegal positions. good work on the overall representaion of the whole, but it could have been a little bit smoother in my opinion. there's also that smiley face on the front that I think you could have captured, but it still looks good. Lastly, I think that the wheels shouldn't have been protruding like that. Still, good job.

Cool stuff, does the whole minifig fit in?
Yep. He/she does have to lean back a little, though. |
