Great Wave of Kanagawa
About this creation
Great Wave of Kanagawa. This mosaic utilizes a variety of levels and heights in an effort to portray a feeling of movement. The top level of the mosaic is made with transparent pieces. Some of the idea of this mosaic were inspired by DJ Baggadonuts

It's so realistic! If it was 30 feet high, I could mistake it for a real tsunami! Either way, it is still huge.

Wow! Very cool. They have an exhibit of Hokusai's thirty six views of Mt. Fuji right now here in Hawaii at the Honolulu Academy of Art. Would be cool to see your piece there too! Thanks for the inspiration. Was awesome to meet you at Brickworld this summer and learn from you about microscale building. Thanks!

Wow, the layering of the trans pieces really gives it that moving feel. Excellent work!

Interestingly enough, I was just discussing this piece with my wife (who's talking about the painting today in her AP Art History class). Beautiful work, as always, Arthur. The trans layer really is a nice touch.

This, like everything else you build, is astounding. I especially enjoy the whole layered affect on the wave. Great job =)

2-D mosaics and photo-tile mosaics just weren't complex enough, huh? Nice effect on the 3-D. You never disappoint. Dude, where do you find the time to build so much. My latest MOC (still a WIP) is still in need of the part I asked you about. But then agann, I'm back in ShangHai for 3 weeks. I had the foresight to bring some bricks with me this time though. Unfortunately, my luggage was lost, and Wednesday morning it finally arrived. I left JFK Saturday night and arrived in SH Monday morning. It's good to have clean clothes after 80 hours, but even better to have my bricks back safe and sound!

I love the simple techniques used in this one. Although to be honest, I was hoping for a close-up of that custom blaster you had on your clone. Good day
