About this creation

The SB16 was one of those mule types space haulers, only this one hauled people.
The stats:
- Scale: micro
- Class: long ship (earlier model)
- Manufacturer: New Gouda Space Docks
- Length: 216 metres
- Engines: 20 thrusters (4 fusion thrusters, consisting of 5 smaller thrusters each)
- Speed: 8 G
- Passengers: 348
- Personnel: 4 (flight, engineering), 8 (space hostesses)
- Weapons: 3 rapid asteroid pulverizer cannons (chin mounted)
- Other: small bar, 2 toilets (eww), seperate droid hold (holds 40 droids)

These ships were mass produced during the first two centuries of the XIIth dynasty of the Space Empire. The ships usually serviced only planets within the same sector, but if you hopped on and off a couple of them, you could make your way through the known universe relatively cheaply and anonymously.

The ship's proud 20 thrusters. An engine failure (or two) was faily common, but not really a problem.

As an earlier model in the longships range, this one wasn't as ultra sleek as its later cousins. But the idea was there, all right.

This is the reason why I built this ship in the first place: I wanted to make some cool engines like this, and position them in an unusual fashion along the tail end of the ship.

I like this because it's just the right shape & colour for a big space-bus. You can easily imagine it lumbering along between planets. |

That's what I love about this site, you aren't sure where to look next and then someone comments on one of your builds and you just check out his/her site, and presto! They are a Lego master!
What a fantastic shape, you can just see this on Babylon 5, B.S.G or something, great build-the engine array is really neat. The cockpit also, actually this whole ship is really neat. Top stuff. |

Nice touch on the all-yellow motif and the greebling delight! Not quite long, but more beefy like a BFC! XD |

A super cool ship indeed. I recognize the approach you describe here: an idea for some part, which in this case turned out great, and then just go with the flow. As for me, most projects like that turns out horrible, but you sir seem to pull off anything. I really like the thrusters (of course!) but the ship itself is a masterpiece. The amount of greebs is well proportioned and the shape and colour are spot on. |

I'm actually surprised that this style of long ship wasn't more popular with all those greebles giving it that bumpy texture to provide better friction when entering... atmosphere that is... GREAT ship my friend! Jokes aside, the greebleing is JUST the right amount to be perfect and the engine placement is (like you said) something you don't see every day. Nice work! ~ Chris. |
