When the Flying Dutchman attacks . . .
A seabattle between my precious Fying dutchman and my last MocOlympics entry...
About this creation

"this is not good, the Dutchman is heading right for us..."

"what should we do captain ?"

"we run"

"captain ? we can't escape that ghostship, you know that..."

"then we die trying ! "

The Dutchman is approaching fast, it's only a matter of minutes before it catches up on the Shadow...

The Shadow is sailing with the wind, it can't go any faster than it's going now. Yet the Dutchman is coming closer as if it's flying on the waves...

"load the guns starboard side, I've got a plan"
"we're going to fight the Dutchman ?
"keep ready to steer left"
"But we'll lose speed !
"I know, they don't expect that and will sail past us, then we'll steer back and sail at top speed again, it would give us some time
...captain...the Dutchman will fire at us, no one sails away after being fired from the Dutchman's full broadside !

"They've come in range Capt'n"
"Now let them taste the triple guns"
"Aye Capt'n"

The ships are almost sailing next to each other...

Fire !

Fire !

"give me the wheel you fool !"

The Shadow is turning away but the Dutchman responds by blowing the Shadow's ruther apart...

As the dutchman is catching up again, it fires devestating cannonballs

With a loud crack the center mast of the Shadow breaks

As the Dutchman advances to the to the front of the Shadow, a second mast breaks

The captain dies with his ship...

the ships idol doesn't

There's no resistance left on the shadow, it's only a matter of seconds before the fire reaches the gunpowder...

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM !!!!!!!!!! the sound of exploding gunpowder, the Shadow was destroyed...

The Flying Dutchman, sailing the seas for eternity, causing terror in the seven seas...

I have this ship for quite some time now (more than one year already)
I just can't demolish it, (a reason to do that would be to use the parts to build a castle, which I'm wanting to do for a long time now)
I simply love this creation
I tried to make it look more like the one in Pirates of the Carribean but it's quite impossible to change its front (which is the least accurate part) if I keep these hull pieces.
But stop using these hull pieces would mean demolishing anyway.
Anyway, this results in the ship remaining as it is.
my attempt to make a replacement failed (the Shadow) though it was a nice ship and might have looked better (on the outside that is)
but it didn't gave me that proud feeling.
I'm building on a 4th version of the Shadow, I'm using all of my knowledge on ship building on this one.

I knew what was going to happen, but I just didn't know HOW. Exiting story, really. Just goes to show how the Dutchman prays on ships like a wolf pack chasing a moose. Nice work.

Quoting Louie M who has the wind advantange
The dutchman has but it's difficult to see here (because there's no real wind in my room :P )
Quoting Louie M is this after he was enslaved by becket or before
That doesn't really matter, it was probably after since becket ordered to hunt pirates. Either way, I do not think so far in the story for my creations, they are simply two ships chasing each other and making a fight ;)

Quoting Louie M yeah but still the wind is a minor factor.what about the crew is bigger.it should be shouting the pistols and musckets.they should also be sorwd fighting with the dutchamns crew.wouldnt the shadow or the dutchman be manuvering around each other.in real battles that would happen.you could of use battle technices in the maelsrtom.that would hepl.they should be swingging to the other ship.i would love to see the captain sorwd fight davy that would be cool
In real battles the ship that has the wind advantage will try to keep that advantage so if they are chasing a ship they will first fire as many broadsides as they can and eventually when enough damage has been done they will take over. circling around each other would only be done in special conditions (such as the mealstorm in POTC). You really should see the movie :Master And Commander: the far side of the world, it's a great presentation of a realistic battle between two frigates. As for the crew, yeah, the crew of the dutchman aren't a typical crew, they're probably invulnerable to most attacks. Making a mealstorm battle is pretty impossible, my new flying dutchman is over a meter long, I don't even have enough blue bricks to make a base big enough for the ship alone :P

Quoting Louie M i have on qusetion for you.How did the shadow lose to the dutchman.if you see the shadow has more cannons and there's enough cannons to fire while the other ones reloading.
There are more factors than the amount cannons playing a role in a battle, the direction of the wind can be a huge advantage or dissadvantage, it's all about getting your broadside fired against the enemy before they are in position. When the wind is at your advantage you can damage the enemy ship without they damaging your ship. Either way, this moc doesn't really present a realistic battle, the Dutchman is a ghostship, it has unnatural abilities. Besides, I didn't know that much about ship battles back when I made this moc :P

Quoting Crazy Russ The 3rd Well Sebeus, I think that you might be able to bleach the clear parts to better their transparency. or you could use some hydrochloric acid, that is what I am trying. Are you German? I really want to learn to speak German.
no I'm not german :p I don't even speak german, I can only understand german laguage (if it doesn't go too fast) but I cannot speak it, I speak Dutch and it might look like german (it actually does)

Check this out please: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/157609- Bad that you aren't in mocolympics anymore but it is for really expert builders (those AFOL who have built legos at least 25 years- who also have many rare parts- i mean "MANY!")and sometimes theme you get isn't best possible... I would like to know who was the one that dropped you out and in which theme -it must have been really great moc if it was good enough to drop you out...
