This is the battle of Warsaw in 1920, other wise known as the "Miracle at the Vistula". It was in the Polish-Soviet war of 1919-1921. The poles after one year of independence was caught in a war aganst the soviets, they hade some early victories but then the soviets hade a major offence and betted the polish army way back. at 1920 about of 2/3 of poland was invaded and the soviet army was waiting right next to warsaw the capital. Everyone thought that poland was arady gone. They thought that the russian leaders would be at warsaw eating chocolates and that only a mirical could save poland, and that mirical happened. The poles worked all day trying to slow the russian advance, the outnumbered polish army hade know a more far ratio on troops since many volenteers joined since they didn't want poland to be in invaded two years after it's independence. Polish generals hade thought about stragigy for a long time, and set the russian forses in a trap! This shocked not only every russian and polish person but almost every one in europe. It was such a victory that many russian troops fled to prussia. There were also many smaller sub battles in wich only the polish moral gave the polish victory. It was the turning point of the war. After so poland was in the offensive, and the war ended with a treaty. Lator found out that the soviets were going to invade europe (they already invaded several small contrys in 1918) and that Poland saved europe from invasion. Many thought Europe could be invaded my the soviets, and poland a one year old contry that was out numbered over 3 tomes in their army saved europe, Because of this battle that many don't know of.
