A larger scale Storm IV Twin Pod Cloud Car from The Empire Strikes Back.
About this creation
Time for a little love for one of the more notable designs from the Star Wars films. Yes, it's our favourite means of transportation on Bespin.
I mean: what? Two people, in red pods, devided by an engine? To be honest, it looks like a pair of flying red shoes with its laces tied together. But I like it for what it is.
Some specs (thanks Wookieepedia!):
- Length: 7 meters
- Maximum speed: 1500 km/h
- Maximum altitude: 100 kilometers
- Engine unit(s): Incom Tx-2, Quadex Kyromaster
- Armament: Blaster cannons (standard configuration: 2)
- Crew: Pilot (1), Gunner (1)
- Cargo capacity: 10 kg
- Consumables: 1 day
(Ps: I noticed my pictures got a bit garbled after uploading and automatic resizing. Click on the photos for a better view)

Front and back view.

Front view of one of the pods.

Side view with a clear view of the blaster cannon and the maneuvering flap on the back.

The pilot's pod popped out from behind the gunner's pod.

Top view. No, I mean it. The view is awesome from inside a cloud car.

A nice portrait shot.

Aaaand another lower portrait.

Inside the Bespin Motors hangar bay. Knowing Cloud City, they probably found it one morning on a stack of bricks with its repulsorlift engine missing.

Portrait of the back.

Clockwise, starting top left:
1) Inside the engine.
2) Of course there are chairs in there! And some technic beams to make it sturdy.
3) Construction of the back section.
4) The gunner's console.

Clockwise, starting top left:
1) The pilot's seat and controls.
2) More detailed shot of the engine intake.
3) My favourite bit: the back section of the car. I like how this turned out.
4) Engine exhaust.
Hope you liked it!

This is a version I built in 2003. It's nice to see that at least I made some progression since then.

Really good job! Only thing is, in an offial star wars book, I read that cloud cars are unarmed. See, you can never trust Wikipedia! (or wookiepedia ;) )
So, how did they shoot those warning shots in TESB? ;) |

Amazing!!! I love how it's a big scaler. :] Question... Does steam punk have a certain color scheme to it? Because I made a steampunk MOC, and it's fun making them, I wanted to do some more, and to make sure I am doing them right.
Heh, thanks. I am barely the person to ask, because I've only ever made one steampunk MOC. But to answer your question, I can tell you what I think. I think steampunk can be just about any colour scheme, but using brown and gray implies wood and steel respectively. |

Is there any shape, any style, any technique that you don't master?
I don't know yet. There probably are certain areas I'm not good at, or have too few bricks of, I'm sure.

Is there any shape, any style, any technique that you don't master? The Twinpod here is a masterpiece, it's very accurate as I remember it from the film. At such a large scale, the amount of detail is amazing and the ways to achieve it are stunning. This is yet another "Steef-just-added-a-new-creation"
hallelujah moment, thank you! |

steef, I humbly request that you cut it out... you keep building like this and I'm going to have to put away my own plastic. It's all done to perfection, there is nothing left for the rest of us to do... yet again, amazing job. the engines I've practically gone cross-eyed trying to figure out :)
Haha. I'll stop building right now. You'll never see a thing from me again. Possibly. |

Yay, Star Wars! This is way better than the official set. Beautifully constructed. The only problem is this ship is actually orange. I don't know why Lego made this red. Other than that, you got the shape and details perfectly! |
