The Glorious Dawn integrates more new technology and weapons into its design than any other new ship in the history of the Tri-Planet Coalition. This Queen of the Spaceways was built based on technology from allies and enemies alike, but mainly from the brilliant minds of thousands of scientists throughout the TPC. Additionally, one was transferred to the Galactic Expeditionary Marines under a "Lend-Lease" Act initiated several years ago. It was proudly rechristened the "Stargazer II"
Many contend that the Glorious Dawn-class vessels form the foundation of a 19th Fleet, but more established minds say that only Battleships, not battlecruisers, found anything. Read more about the 18th Deep Space Fleet and join to fulfill your destiny today! http://mocpages.com/group.php/6080
About this creation
When the Fleet Command saw the ambitious plans for the GD-class ships, many scoffed. Proponents overruled the doubters, however, and the development went forward on what would be an astounding ship that pushed all doubt from the most obstinate mind. Everything from the layout of the ship to the bolts that fastened the chairs down was brand new. It was battlecruiser with the frontal firing arc of a dreadnought; yet the forward target profile of a destroyer. It was a thin-skinned tin can (comparatively); yet had the shields and countermeasures that would make most planetary defenses turn green with envy. It has a deceptively peacefull look; yet boasts over nine separate and deadly weapons systems.
The Glorious Dawn's greatness comes from its half-shell bow that houses eleven different scientific systems including shield emitters, long-range sensors, ladar, electromagnetic detection, photo-chromatic detection, and primary and secondary targeting systems. This storehouse bears the image of the Brotha's skull; the most feared beast on the planet Incron.
Equipped with beyond-visual range targeting systems, the Glorious Dawn uses variable condensing beam emitters on its central turret to counter light dialation over extreme distances. In fact, the GD's first recorded kill was against a pirate heavy cruiser that did not raise its shields when they detected the GD, believing themselves to be out of weapons range. They would have been right, had they been facing any other ship. The first hit took out the pirate's shield generators, second and third ignited the fuel stores and blew the ship apart from the inside-out. The only visual evidence that the GD ever saw of the pirate was the flash of a distant explosion. After that, no pirate ever again underestimated the 18th DSF.
Additionally, the Glorious Dawn utilizes point-shielding systems. Meaning that the shields idle in low-power mode until the computers detect a hit coming. Maximum power is focused at the very point that the beam will hit, thus extending the life cycle of the shields. The shields will not activate if a shot will miss the vessel by more than one meter.
Forward facing armament is composed of
1 heavy turret
1 medium turret
5 light turrets
2 heavy torpedo launchers
Rearward-facing armament is composed of a single heavy turret that is the most powerful carried on the Glorious Dawn. Additionally, the two medium turrets on the side can traverse to provide for rear defense.
Even though the Glorious Dawn is lightly armored doesn't mean she can't slug it out one-on-one with the biggest ships around. When attacking a flotilla, the 'Dawn "Crosses the T" and flanks the formation at maximum cruising speed. Firing all her weapons at a single target can be devastating enough to take out a battleship in one pass, using a volume of firepower vast enough to overwhelm its shields and all. Simple rinse and repeat these slicing attacks until sufficient damage has been done to make the enemy retreat or be destroyed. The 18th's allies, the UNE, has nicknamed these attacks the "Barracuda Formation."

I like how everybody around says they have a super ship that's the best, at least since everybody is so good, we can't ever lose ;) |

What's the point in building a ship if you don't have personal faith in it? |

I swear I comment on this... Anyway, very nice work. If I remember right, these didn't get destroyed by the dying Aor, I think only 1 or 2 of the Dawn breakers were, and this one only damaged...
Which is slightly upside down, because the DB is bigger and more armored than the GD-class is...

Hmm, how did I miss this one? I seem to be missing quite a few these days. Anyway, fantastic design. The turrets are magnificent, and the hull looks to be shaped perfectly for ramming. I love it! ^Blub^
Probably because it's over a year and a half old.
Yes, actually, I wanted to bring that out. More like a battleaxe.
And thanks, btw! |

Did you happen to check when this was posted? I hardly understood the theme at that point. I doubt the shields were taken into effect in the CR. |

So we have a common interest in turret design ours are looking very different. I like your design very much because of this. I should have a look at it some times to come to new ideas. Well done. And the shape is great. I like the front view with the batteries turning to the viewer. |

Hey, that is an awesome starship (I especially like the design on the fore end), but it doesn't really fit into the "near-future" theme of STAR Corp. |

Nice little dash of micro-scale you have going here. I definately like that front. The rear is also good, and that command bridge is superb. Excellent job here. |

A very good microscale model, the outline is fluent and the details are right on spot. I too like the use of the quartercircle parts up front, they give the cruiser a big bad attitude. |

Its nice to see people still use the alien pieces( best space sets ever in my opinion). The part I find best in this moc is that you got the 1/4 circles pieces to fit sideways without the big gap.
That was the toughest part about this ship, those pieces only connect in one place right under the traversing turrets on the sides. |
