"The Dictator": Rail Mounted Artillery
The infamous siege mortar, used by the Union Army during the Civil War.
About this creation

This MOC is a representation of the infamous siege mortar used in the American Civil War. As for why it was called "The Dictator," I think that's pretty obvious. It's huge! It weighed in at a whopping 17,000 pounds and could fire a 218 pound shell a distance of 2.5 miles. This monster served an important role during the Siege of Petersburg, where it was transported via a special railroad car, similar to the one I have mine situated on.

I wanted to make the cannon part black, but didn't have the right pieces to do so, which is why I went with light grey. The little black thing bulging out of the barrel is supposed to represent a shell. This piece of artillery fits nice and snug to my flatbed car by being fixed to it with little pins. All in all, I'm satisfied with how everything turned out, especially the railroad car since I'm pretty much a train MOC noob. Hope you guys like it! :)

This was a toy soldier version. Mine's different since it has couplers.

The flatbed car itself. The little grey pins serve the purpose of fixing the mortar to it. This allows it to be run around the tracks without fear of it falling off.
