This short story is a visual representation of The Beatles song "A Day In The Life" from the album Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)

I read the news today, oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh

I saw the photograph

He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed

A crowd of people stood and stared

They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today

Oh boy

The English Army had just won the war

A crowd of people turned away

But I just had to look
Having read the book.

I'd love to... Turn

You

On

*Brrrring*

Woke up,

Fell out of bed

Dragged a comb across my head

Found my way downstairs

And drank a cup

And looking up I noticed I was late

Found my coat and grabbed my hat

Made the bus in seconds flat

Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,

Somebody spoke and I went into a dream...

Aiiiii

Ai, ai, ai

Ah, ai, ai

Ai, ai, ai

I read the news today, oh boy.
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire

And though the holes were rather small,

They had to count them all

Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

I'd love to

turn... you... on...

Never could be any other way, never could be any other way, never could be any other way...

This is genius! I know it's old, but Stuart just told me about this... It would have been a pity to miss that! You really recreated in your build the atmosphere of the song, and still added your interpretation and easter eggs. I'll give it a try : Probably Imagine (though not a Beatles Song) with the white piano. Someone mentioned the apple building behind the car. The film must be "How I Won The War". Maybe the "clock a-ticking on the mantel shelf" is from Don't Pass Me By? "She's leaving Home" with the girl meeting "a man from the motor trade". Fixing a hole with the man... "Fixing a hole where the rain gets in"! The men carrying apples (we see their back... Maybe they're Apple Scruffs!) There is a black bird (in two words!) on the building in the "holes" scene. The "hole(s) in the road" of Mean Mr. Mustard. And of course, the "never ending song" playing on an old-fashioned stereo (or is it mono?) if that counts... I didn't count the Beatles written in flowers, that seemed too obvious... Hope I'm not too late for the little contest! Apart from that and again, great build in such a short time! I wish there were more Beatles-Moc on the 'Pages, especially of that quality! --Tom--

It's hard to believe this was built for MocOlympics. The scope is incredible. I love all of the little Beatles touches, especially the car scene where you have recreated the entrance to Abbey Road studio. And the movie theater is amazing. I do admit I was hoping to see a different minifig for the part that Paul sings ("Woke up...").

I'd also like to add on that in the theater you can see an old man(64) and if anyone has seen Beatles: Anthology, you'll remember John was in a film about WW2. LONG LIVE THE BEATLES

I'm not sure if someone realized this, but in the third picture of the 4,000 holes, You can see Lovely Rita (meter-maid!) behind the purple motorcycle. And, I believe that the man on the roof is Maxwell and his silver hammer. LONG LIVE THE BEATLES !!

Love the Beatles. However, the first Beatle drummer didn't make the grade. His name was Pete Best. Congrats on the win

I bow to the master! We are not worthy! If I tried to describe the myriad of emotions that I am feeling right now, it would fill up too much space. Man I suck:)Congrats on this and your round 3 entry, good luck going forward!

WOOOOOW! You and Wes Pitter ought to get together and recreate an entire album out of Lego! "He blew his mind out in his chair, he hadn't noticed that he clicked the page, he could just only sit and stare, never seen anything this great before, now he wasn't sure if there was any thing else worth living for, I reeeeallllly, looooove, thiiiiis, MOC."

Astonishing interpretation of my favourite fab four song! I'd often wondered how a modern promo video for some of the beatle tunes would look, well you've storyboarded it for my brain! Too many details to do justice to (curtains and mirror in bedroom are particular faves though) and the in-depth level of the builds (cinema with on-screen war scene! Bus!) have got me grinning and scanning up and down over the pictures again and again. Not to polish your ego further, but this will forever affect how I visualise this song as I listen to it. My only disappointment is that Sgt. Peppers isn't in the car for my drive home from work. Thanks.

Quoting Dennis Price Do I ever love me some Beatle music! This is a fantastic MOC. I'm stretching it on a couple of these, but here's what I've found: White piano – “Imagine” by John Lennon (Actually the all-white room could be a nod to “The Beatles,” or what most people call the White Album Man fixing roof – “Fixing a Hole” Girl with suitcases -- “She’s Leaving Home” Road Crew—“Why Don’t We Do it in the Road” Man with dog – “Martha My Dear” Man with red flower (a poppy) in his lapel – “Penny Lane” Female cop (near purple motorcycle) – Lovely Rita Medical doctor – “Doctor Robert” Suicide dude – “Happiness is a Warm Gun” John and Paul are carrying a crate of apples – Apple is the Beatles’ company.
Okay, I won't say witch ones, but I will say 5 of these are correct. Maybe that will aid other guessers. In regards to build time. 24+ hours of actual building and another 2 on photos. And no Chris, I have been at school all week getting my classroom ready and had soccer practice among other fun activities (I'm not complaining). BUT, it was a fun build and I thought a really good idea that I wanted to do right, so it was worth it!
