Borderworld Series YX "Dromedary" Freighter

In the frontier, the need for individuals to move great amounts of cargo securely is crucial. The "Dromedary" combines the best attributes of the Series Y and an entirely new reinforced structure and defensive matrix to yield and uncompromising solution for commerce and trade in the most rugged of areas.

Information

In the Freelancer universe, the Borderworld Series YX Dromedary Freighter is the freighter that boasts the largest amount of cargo space. Many player consider this ship to be the freighter of choice. It's nearest competitors are the Kusari Drone which has similar power rating and is cheaper, but holds only slightly more than half the cargo, and the Rheinland Humpback, which is expensive and maneuvers slowly but has better shield, armor and weapon ratings.

The beast: 56cm (approx. 22 inch) and 1.6 kilos of plastic (nearly 1600 parts).

3/4 from behind

Upper turret, shield emitter, thruster and main engine (top to bottom) and left wing turret, counter measure dropper, mine dropper and right wing turret.

Rear turret mounted under the main engine.

The huge main engine and the two smaller additional engines.

Detailed view of one additional engine.

Engine cover opened for maintenance on the fuel conduits.

It really looks like a dromedary.

Cockpit closed...

...and opened

Contols and pilot´s seat, quite comfortable - tan leather!

If the back rest is folded down, the pilot can crawl into the back of the ship.

The proud owner of the ship at his favourite place, behind the controls.

I´m happy with the look of cockpit, although the windscreen differs from the original.

The pillar under the cockpit with two guns and...

...the foward turret.

An intake for cooling some machinery, with a few (rather crappy) greeblings inside it.

The opened doors to the cargo hold form a platform for easier loading and unloading.
New cargo can be inspected here before stacking it inside the hold.

Plattform for supervising the loading process and for additional cargo space when it is needed.

Okay, the box looks boring, but I had nothing better to put here.

Another platform, this one is reserved for a tool box and spare parts for the main reactor.

The ladders (here only the left one) will be taken up if the shape of the cargo requires it.

Another shot of the supervising platform with a small office/galley combiantion underneath it.

Computer workstation on the left and (very important) coffee machine on the right.
The pilot would turn into a zombie without a good coffee break!

A guy working on the computer. He seems to be analysing an alien artifact.
"WTF?! A blue screen? Curse you Microscrap and your Windumb!"

Let´s have some coffee and wait for that stupid machine to reboot.

View through the office/galley into the ship´s "neck".

The neck itself is still empty here. I´ve uploaded an update, you can see --> here <-- .

View from behind the cockpit through the neck up to the main reactor.

The main reactor.

Stuffed with greeblings, controls and displays. The whole main reactor was built from spare parts.

The main reactor from above with roof removed.

Quoting xcal 13 I thought this ship looked amazing, so amazing infact that i decided over the last 3 days to copy it as exactly as i could in Lego Digital designer. I am about to create a page on my mocpage acount hosting these instructions giving you credit to the design. All i ask is that if you want me to remove them from my page for whatever reason sent me a comment and i'l do so straight away.
Well, that´s all fine with me!

Quoting Philipp Roling Hi here is Philipp again. Tanks for your answer. I remember building something by your own makes you prowd. I built much things, too. For example i built a McCafe or the dagger. Search for it these are my first creations on this page. It´s just because I´m new here and saw this. It`s my favourite ship in Freelancer, and it really looks like the Dromedary. Because of this I wrote this comment. By the way can you make a list of the parts you needed, because i wanna buy me the parts..., BUT JUST IF YOU LIKE.
Sorry, but no! I don´t want to be the bad guy, but this is my creation and just mine! As I said before, feel free to rebuild it, but make up your mind on your own. If you don´t have the parts you can use MLCAD to recreate it. It´s a programm for creating MOCs digitally on your computer. Available at ldraw.org. P.S.: Where are your creations, they do not show up on your page!?

Quoting Philipp Roling Hello, this is a great building!! When i saw it first time, I wanna build it, too. But I don`t know how. I would buy me all the parts. But I haven`t got instructions... And I would ask if you can send me this. By the way, if this comment is strange. I can say I`m from Germany. My E-Mail adress is: philipproling@gmx.de
Hi, thanks for your comment! I understand why you want instructions, but don't you think that an approach of your own would be a better thing to do? Maybe there are parts of the ship you'd build completely different!? I'm not a friend of that instruction posting/sending thing. You're welcome to copy the design by looking at and recreating it, but don't forget to mention who built the original. ~Cheers, Marc

Quoting Dr. HappyBaboon , PhD Definitely my favorite light freighter. excellent height transition along the neck, everything is proportioned well. Perhaps you could change the front of the bottom cargo deck to an entrance ramp. A really simple fold-down ramp would be perfect. Keep on brickin'!
Sorry for the late answer! Yeah, a ramp would be a nice touch. Since the game doesn´t show how the ship is boarded, I never thought about building one. Great idea for a future project! Oh, and thanks for the nice comment! ~Marc

Quoting Steffen Kasteleiner Hey Marc, you created some really nice lines for the eye there. Your SNOT work is very appealing! As you might have realized, I´m not too much into space themes myself, but like what some builders put together in that genre. Your Dromedary Freighter is a good example for taking a good look at space things even for people loving the Town theme. Thank you so much for the very kind words on my most recent aircraft, BTW! I´m happy to know that you like it! It was a fun build, but quite challenging as it incorporated techniques I always wanted to use, but hadn´t done so until then. Übrigens: Die Welt ist anscheinend doch sehr klein:) - Ich wohne in Neu-Isenburg und komme eigentlich aus der Limburger Gegend:)... Grüße, Steffen
Nice to hear, that you like my space freighter, which is out of your normally prefered theme! I feel honoured. :-)

Excellent rendition of the dromedary freighter from Freelancer. I am so glad you did an interior, which is something that we never see in the game. And I think you did the interior great justice. Plus, you put a Mr. Coffee next to Mr. Radar! As for the neck, plenty of space for personal storage lockers -- put guns, clothing, food and supplies, cardamine, whatever in those lockers. My personal favorite freighter from Freelancer is the "Mule" pirate freighter, but that has no bearing on this conversation and is totally irrelevant.
