MOColympics R2 - Raid on the Hematite Fields
A MOC built to fulfill the "Classic Spacetle" theme's requirements. I hated every moment of building, but I'm quite satisfied with the result :)
About this creation
Running against Nickeal Mudd

The despicable Cyborcs are raiding the Hematite Fields! It's up to the proud Astronites to protect the Kaiserlord's minerals!

'Ack and his Cyberclaw on the Shearing Chariot, and Zoogh with his NLD (No Legs Device)...

... face Mexxin the Techmage on his floating tower and Sir De La Mech on his Ho.R.Se. (Hovering Recon/Sentry)

The Floating Tower... well, actually towering on the attackers. Mexxin's wand, the Jujutech 5001, allows him swift and powerful spells thanks to the featured Robot Head.

De La Mech's HoRSe blowing dust as it goes.

'Ack's Shearing Chariot, pulled by Buzzing Drones, and Zoogh on its NLD. Power Sawblades are dreadful weapons (and I had a whole bunch of them!)

Top View. All floating vehicles were set to be not alligned to the terrain, to enhance the floating feeling.

The empty landscape. I tried to add some layering to make the baseplate less... plate. With minimal success, as this was my 1st attempt at landscaping :) On this dio you can see all of my grey slopes.

The Floating Tower. This was the best way in my opinion to combine the two themes, because the tower may still look too much casle, but if it FLIES... :)

Gate opening.

Back shot.

The back opens to play with the armory. (It's supposed to hold some infantry, but my casle supplies are laughable at best)

Sir De La Mech on his HoRSe. Notice the miniguns on the front.

Top back view. I think I got the horse-ish look right for this vehicle.

'Ack on his Shearing Chariot. I thought about using brown, but it didn't look Space-y enough, so I went for a "stony" look.

Top view. I love those bionicle wings, very aggressive. And those drones look extremely agile and dangerous.

Back view.

Crystal #1 I LOVE hematite, so in this universe it's extremely valuable.

Crystal #2 It's crafted to be used in ships' hulls, refined to be used as a power source...

Crystal #3 ... and used as an offering to the Gods.

Group shot. Mexxin with his JujuTech, Zoogh on his NLD, De La Mech with Swordsaw and Lazer, and 'Ack with Cyberclaw and Heavy Lazer.

Extra pics.
(This should have been the 2nd pic, but I found too late it was unfocused. I cleared it up a bit, but still... It's here just as a curiosity to see how bad it came out)

A closeup on Mexxin the Techmage. Since it comes from a WIP shot, I deleted the background. I added this because I saw you can't make him out very well.

I hope you liked it. The hardest part was to angle those crystals and cover their bases with my limited slope supply.

And judges votes even more so! <:p

You've got some really interesting concepts and designs going on here! I like the design of that airbike/stand thingy. I posted the next part of my Jedi Hunter comic, if you'd like to check it out: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/152989

Quoting Joshua Benjamin Seeing this makes me wonder, as to how you always seem to make black and trans green look awesome! Great job, and good luck in round 3 =)
That's because I mostly have black pieces, and I like neon with it :) (Seriously, my black collection is almost twice the size of all the rest put together!)

I built a top, then my 5-year old bro went and threw it against a wall, rendering two pieces useless! RRAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!

Quoting Yuri Fassio Very cool! I'd have loved some more detail on what's happening there, and what are the Crab Tanks, though :)
I might come up with a better story in my next MAOX moc. I made a micro base, which looks a lot like a cheap knockoff of your MAOX microcity (I was in AG mode, sorry! ;)) as for the crab tank, it's just another AG vehicle. I made it for AG, and I have a full scale moc up now. I just named it that because it looks kinda like a lobster or something. lol

Wow. This is really inventive! I love your take on this category. Round 3 should be an epic match-up. :-) Great work.

Well done on round 3 Yuri, I figured imagination was something you had buckets of, even if you didn't have many castle parts! Sir De La Mech - name inspired by moi? ;) Love the floating tower and Jujutech staff and the trans orange sawblades give a uniform appearance to your bad-guys. The only thing I may have done personally is add a bit more scenery to frame it all, but it's a fine balance from framing to obscuring details. I tend to try too much.... Good luck as you progress.

Nice work on the tower and that chariot, too. I also REALLY like the leaning crystals. Do that with a massive amount of those and you'd have a pretty cool looking structure...hmmmmm.

You're vehicles, Especially the castle rocketship with the wizard are awesome. This alone takes you to round 3. One of the key elements in castle is landscaping. Classic space has always ignored this with big flat baseplates. I think thats a mistake and for a true gem here would need some sort of landscaping as frosting on the cake. Good luck in R3!

Yes, I remember it! And no, it didn't come to mind building... I was just looking for something to replace a lightsaber hilt, since I only got one. (btw I always thought you should do more robots. You'll end up making them better than the Czechs)

Quoting John Moffat Very nice, but isn't that Blacktron, not Classic Space?
Maybe so. I chose to try an overall '80s feeling to cover the "classic" part of the MOC instead of a precise color code (plus, Trans yellow? not among my biggest collections)

Classic Spacestle is such a crazy theme and you delivered a crazy MOC to match. The landscape is a nice setting and the vehicles have a nice blend of classic castle and space (however that's possible). Good luck!

All your crystals are belong to us. Cool Diorama man! I like how you showed the whole thing together and then in small segments so that you could really get a sense of what is going on. I'm a big fan of the crystals--In my opinion, the only thing wrong with this MOC is that there are not more Crystals in it!

Quoting Christian Schlichting The landscape is the best, i could use that environment, would you sent me the baseplate set for some days? :)
It's already down :(
Quoting Thomas Thomas 15 trans-orange chainsaws. 15! That is truly a lot of flamin' chainsaw awesomeness!
I had 3 more, but for the love of me I couldn't find a way to put them in :D (and I could not use them for the Astronites 'cause they use a different color scheme)

Heheh. Technomages -rule-! And I'm definitely gonna have to do something with that haematite for my Toa of Iron... And good luck, even if I don't fully understand how this contest works...

This is really amazing. It's like one of those nightmares you awake from, thinking "Dude, I'm strange!" Or like some wicked 80s fantasy movies. Good luck on your road to MOColympic victory.

Quoting Jibs Studios (Double R) what is that piece that you use for the "heads" of the drones on the Shearing Chariot, you use them on the Shiva, and Indra as well.
It's just a piece of Bionicle armor. You can find it on Inika's shoulders, among others.
Quoting Ryan Tennant it sorta seems to fit into your archeogenesis theme in a way...
ll that's because of the black and neon lime. I'm a real junkie of that color combination :)

So, I must admit that the theme itself is rather... strange... I don't even try to really understand who do what and so on : There's something magical in this MOC that I didn't wanted to break with logic. "It's a kind of magic" haha Really I love it, it plays on the same level of quality than the entry of Uspez Morbo for Round 1 IMO. Amazing, good luck !

Awesome! I don't know if you were shooting for it, but the Floating Tower has an almost insectoid look to it... in any case, I love this Classic Spacetle interpretation, it obviously expresses the futuristic weapons and vehicles of classic space while still presenting the mystical magic of castle.

I find "landscaping" painful to do at the best of times, so good work with the crystals and their angles (and covering up of gaps). Sir De La Mech and 'Ack's mounts/vehicles are my favourite part, but the tower's pretty neat, too. Best of luck to you Yuri!
