My second entry for the Brickarms battle vig contest.
About this creation
The Secret 8th Voyage of Sinbad

During the days of the Abbasid caliphate, the adventurer Sinbad undertook 7 voyages to far off lands which left him rich and famous. He usually returned from one only for his wanderlust to soon take him out again, searching for adventure and treasure.

Few know that he did in fact set sail on an 8th voyage. He told few people, as even by the standards of his other fantastic journeys this one took some believing.

Employed by the wizard Parkour (who turned out to be evil as usual) he sailed for a lost isle not on any chart, where it was said that a great ship lay. No ordinary ship, this one had fallen to earth from the very stars. The greedy Parkour coveted the treasures to be found there, said to be weapons of great power and precious metals found nowhere else on the Earth. The only one who could find the ship was Parissa, a mystical princess of the court of Ohmani’mpoor.

Shipwrecked on the island (also a regular occurrence for Sinbad), many fierce beasts and dangerous pitfalls whittled Sinbad’s crew down to just a few men, Parkour, the Princess Parissa and brave Sinbad himself (this should be pretty familiar by now to anybody who’s seen a Sinbad movie).

Feigning an injury from an attack by a giant wasp, Parkour bade Sinbad and Parissa climb down into a hole to where the ship lay buried. Once out of sight, he used his magic powers to awaken the inhabitants of the ship. These Alien beings were quick to attack, looking to find hosts for their offspring. Sinbad and his crew fought bravely, but each cut on the beasts caused powerful acid to burst forth.

Suddenly, with a strange noise, a blue wooden box appeared and men ran to Sinbad’s aid. They had weapons which spat fire and thunder which tore into the monsters. The tenth Doctor had arrived with reinforcements from U.N.I.T. knowing that aliens in the 9th century would turn humanity into breeding stock for their kind, until none were left and the world was a barren rock. But the xenomorphs were not the only alien beings aboard the ship...

Giving blessings, Sinbad attacked the monsters with renewed vigour and hope……

Notes

My second attempt at vignette building and second entry for the contest, although at the time of posting the BA forums have been down for days and the deadline is long past. I hope that they extend the deadline accordingly as this is simply better than my first go! I tried for the sectional / cut-away view with this one. Comments are of course welcome.

Before anybody asks, no the Aliens do not carry weapons, but as a faction Brickarms DO feature. The BA’s are actually used in the construction of the Alien figs, both monopods and U-clips. This has allowed me to slim down the xenomorphs from my previous attempts and allow new articulation which I think makes them my best yet. I believe it also satisfies the rule on both factions featuring BA’s.

Quoting Mister Bones I like to go look at older creations from some of my more favorite builders and found this one this morning. I really enjoyed every aspect of this fine tale! Great story, excellent build. I really wish I could get my hands on a Joker minifig….40.00 US on Bricklink…sigh
I know your pain, even the head goes for around $15. Luckily for me, my young nephew had 2 (his mum and dad bought him a lot of the Batman sets when new - I was still in my darkages) and he's also into Star Wars, so some trades involving non-fleshie Jedi and some other bits got me a Joker, Batman and Riddler. Bargain! And thanks for the kind words, i'll be sure to make some time to pore over your page.

I still love this one, and think that it could have easily beaten Flooded Trenches or Yazuka vs. Mafia. How did you come up with this insanity?

Sinbad Vs Xenomorphs with a side order of Doctor Who (Lee Jones.) Nice one man, I really like that "red circle" in contrast with the rest of the walls. Your action scenes and commentary are awesome too! Good luck in the contest. -Dylan

Yuri - you hit the nail on the head. Skeletons in my last vig, Sinbad in this one - Ray Harryhausen is a genius. Can you imagine what his aliens would have moved like if he'd done them? Thanks to all for the comments.

This is really good! Fantastic build on those Aliens. They're quite detailed for something that small, at minifig size. Like your last moc, the effects are just really cool. The U.N.I.T soldier using the vine to come down, for example. It gives the moc a action feeling, which I really like in mocs. Once again, nice storyline. Looking forward to your next moc and good luck in the contest! ~ Ghostman :)
