That's fakey-German for "Warstorm Soulbreaker." Big is what she aims for.
About this creation
In the sun-burning war between the crusading forces of Planet Vatican and the sundry hordes of Freaks, Pagans, Infidels, cyborgs and deviants who conprise the Megalith Accord, countless machines of war have been brought to bear against the inexorable NeoTemplar forces. Few single creations have ever topped the Kriegsturm Seelenbrucher in sheer ferocity and capacity for terror and violence. None have surpassed it in audacity or absurdity.
Astrid Baerberger, War Princess of New Bavaria Traces her roots deep, far back into pre-Christian Bavaria, back to dark woods haunted by beasts and gods and fae. In comissioning her personal war machine, she sought to invoke the terror of the ogre and the troll. She also wanted to be twice as big and have more weapons than anyone else.
Who can say no to a princess?
Overview

Size: Bigger than you.
Speed: could be better.
Armament: too much.
Smile for the camera, pretty.
Arms

Each arm bears an identical buffet of weaponry; rockets, medium-range lasers, and clusters of varied-caliber machine guns and autocannons. Each massive claw houses a plasma-font, ideal for roasting enemies. When the fingers close together, they generate a tight electromagnetic tunnel-field, which channels the raw sunstuff into a long-range lance.
There's a close-up of one shoulder; that funky-huge bionicle head was the start of all this, when I started wondering what I could possibly use such a chunky, specialized piece for.
Legs

Despite my best efforts at building tight, multi-point joints, these legs barely manage to hold the mech up. Still, they look pretty! All big and chunky! Fully-articulated, including shock-aborbers in the toes. OOh! and lookit the pretty green missiles!
Big Boomer

An appalling absurdity of a laser cannon, stored on the back when not in use.
Drones

The opposite shoulder bears a couple of recoverable drones, for recon and precision work. Each is capable of prolonged supersonic flight, and is armed with a minigun and small laser.
Cockpit

Like 4Eyes, the head pops up, and an internal canopy opens up to allow access.
Going Their Seperate ways

What's this? Is it? Ja! Ja! Zie Donnerschwein! Astrids favorite death chopper, the Thunder Pig, is built right in.

Feeling Rather hollow, the Kriegsturm clams up. When seperated, the mech operates semi-autonomously, carrying out basic commands (hold, guard, move). It will defend itself viciously, though it cannot acces its most powerful weaponry. Astrid can feed it new commands remotely, or open a livelink (risky if hacked) and pilot it from anywhere. She once blasted a squadron of incoming NeoTemplar Dropships from the air without putting her stein down.
A couple of comparison shots with the Donnerschwein and 4Eyes.
Coming soon: a stripped down, lighter version of the Kriegsturm, actually able to stand reliably on its own two legs.

Truly cool mecha. Although, I wouldn't call others' mecha busy when yours looks like this ;) I'm a huge fan of both the fact that it fits a pilot in it, and of the cool cockpit mechanism/ vehicle stored there (and how it closes up. The weapons are seriously cool! Do the legs bend at the knees? If not, you may want to invest in some AT-AT joints for them.
Sorry. By "busy" I meant "engaged in much high-paced activity at once," not cluttered in appearance. Yeah, this one definitely fits that bill pretty well.
The knees work, though their range is limited and they're not too strong. The beast has to stay in a half-squat, and can't be left standing up straight without supervision. I'll have to look into those joints. |
