About this creation
My name is Mata Nui. I was once the ruler of a great world, full of life, and heroes, and peace. This is the story of how I lost it all.
It started long ago, back when the world I knew was still void of life. The Great Beings created the Makuta to create life to inhabit it, and they created me to watch over them. I looked over the Matoran Universe for hundreds of thousands of years, and watched the life progress. I saw matoran build statues in my honour, and saw them get slain by viscious warlords. The Great Beings created the toa to fight off these warlords, and I watched as the matoran accepted the toa into their society. I felt at home.
Then it happened. The Makuta began to rebel, and one certain Makuta, by the name of Teridax, sent me into a deep sleep. I was trapped in this slumber for 10,000 years, and though I could still see what was happening in the Matoran Universe, I could not influence the events that happened. I watched as the world was corrupt by the Brotherhood of Makuta, and watched thousands of toa march unknowingly towards their doom. But for every thousand that fell, one progressed.
The toa discovered that the Kanohi Ignika, the mask of life, was the one chance they had at waking me from my slumber. Matoro, Hewkii, Nuparu, Jaller, Hahli and Kongu fought the rogue team of skakdi know as the Piraka. They faced titans, demons and protecters of the mask, and eventually followed it into the sea, where they fought the Barraki. And at one time, I died. But the greatest hero of all, Matoro, sacrificed his life to ressurect me.
Eventually the toa succeeded, and I awoke from my slumber. But something happened that I did not see. Teridax ambushed me, and possessed my body.
"What is happening?"
"It's too late, brother. You've lost."
"Teridax! You will not control this universe. My toa will defeat you!"
"Brother, they cannot stop me. Can you not see? I have already won..."
That was the last I heard of Teridax, before he trapped my mind in the Ignika and banished me from my own universe. My mind was overloaded as I thought about the terror Teridax would bring to the matoran, and about what I would find if I ever got back to my universe. I felt fear, and sorrow, and worry for the first time. I thought it was over, but little did I know that it had only just begun...
