The last of the Third Generation Mecha. The D-Type mk I was an attempt to make a hardsuit-like mecha that was optimized for terrestrial melee combat. It was not a resounding success, as it turned out the be more of a mech than a hardsuit.
About this creation
VRMMS-DT-001-002 “D- Type Series”
The D-Type “Dragoon” Series of mecha represents the first in an eventual line of fourth generation mecha. Following the battle of the Ylandran Shipyards, Alliance High Command has already been considering the next phase of the war and has determined that a key factor would be the development and production of new generation mecha to spearhead their operations. Also notable is the fact that the D-Type Series is one of the first mecha development projects that do not have their origins in the X-Type Series.
VRMS-DT-001 “D- Type mk I”
The D-Type series began with a list of specifications given to Targonian developers by no less than the Princess Andromeda herself. Remnant developers were busy putting the last touches on the X-Type mk V and had given little thought to further projects and the request was placed in the hands of Targonian developers, who, having worked on the successful M-Type Series were anxious to perform further research. The Princess’ specifications called for a mech that would be ideally suited to the attack style of a dragoon. She wanted to outfit several of her warriors with these suits in order to carry the fight to the enemy in a larger theatre.
The D-Type mk I was born out of these specifications. The mk I was a completely original design, unlike any before it. The design focused on speed and agility rather than defence. The legs were built for making large, booster assisted leaps, and landing from great heights, even at terminal velocity. Accordingly, the rest of the mk I was made as light as possible. The cockpit module, in particular was more like a set of clothes than a traditional cockpit, and used an advanced motion trace system for control.
However, the mk I was not completed or armed as it did not pass the testing phase. The design was deemed to unstable and flimsy and developers were forced to go back to the drawing board.
Only one D-Type mk I prototype was produced, but was never completed.

Overall, I'm loving this. I believe this is one of my favorites of your work, other than your amazing Gundams that I plan on stealing. >_> Anyhow, this is very beastly and has an overall artistic and flexible feel.
