When there's a riot at the moonbase, it's time to send in the special ops...
About this creation
I'm in Group 2, Bracket 2A.
Here's my entry for the 2009 MocOlympics. I was put in the classic space category against Imrav Korono (click on his name to see his entry), so I built this small "crowd control" tank. I have no classic space sets or minifigures, so this was a little difficult to design and build. But since classic space is made from pretty raw elements, I eventually ended up with something satisfying. Please review, and thanks for looking!

Front view. It's great width could also serve a a blockade, if many units are placed together.

Side view. Notice the classic yellow and black stripes, which are seen on many classic space cruisers.

Back view. That printed piece was acquired through a free bag of mostly vintage stuff (again, I have no classic space).

Other side. Looks a bit like a camper van :D The walls are either straight-up or a very steep slope, which keeps people form climbing onto it.

Front detail. The yellow parts are slit-windows for the tank driver, and the white stump is the gun.

The back reveals high-security door...

... That opens to let out the crew of three!

Inside you can see my mock-up classic spacemen. The white one is the driver, the red one is the gunner, and the black one is the communications officer.

Clockwise from upper-right: the driving controls, the arms cabinet, a big blaster, and the main cannon.

Here's a nice low-down angle.

Just a quick frame I made, showing the tank monitoring activity of a crowd.

The shields mask the fact that they are not classic space torsos beautifully. I never intended that, but when I read your comment, I looked back, and I'm like, "Hey, this guy's right!" And thanks for the comment! It means a lot :) |

I love how you made the most with a limited number of real classic space bricks. The shields mask the fact that they are not classic space torsos beautifully. Well done and very creative. I think creativity is the core of MOColympics. |

You know...I tried to make something much like this a few years ago, but it was a cover car-type-thing, and it was Star Wars. Nice riot shields, and awesome tank-thingy. |

Great job for your limit on parts availability. Totally captured the feel of CS. You've got my vote as well. Step on up to round two! |

For a moment it reminded me of the death probe in the six million dollar man tv show. |

My first thought was "This is terrible, he's gonna get killed by his opponent!" But then I realized that the theme was Classic Space, and this looks like it just stepped out of Lego's past! Good job on capturing the theme. |

Very innovative approach to Classic Space! I liked the level of detail. Very consistent with the 1979-80 designs. |

Yay for classic space! Even though you don't have any official sets, you did a good job recreating the look from the elements you had. I especially like the minifigs ^_^ |

Very nice, simplistic model. I don't even know how you managed to fit three minifigures in there. Hope you win!

Cute model, well done on using new pieces in a classic space way. Nice. If you ever want to build old style wheels, check out my 'Re-inventing the wheel MOC.

Im suprised this hasn't been noticed before me
I posted it about 10 minutes ago... It's 10:30 here. I guess I mean to say I'm not surprised :) Thanks for the comment. |

Im suprised this hasn't been noticed before me- this is a great little Apc! Everything about it is instantly recognizable as PCS, and the fact you could fit 3 minifigures in it is incredible! Great work! -Danny |
