Hyperspace Renegade
Reports from fringe holdings of M-Tron and the Solar Corporation have recently been trickling in regarding a new wave of Blacktron aggression. While details have been sketchy at best, these images were recently obtained by Space Police operatives posted on Planet 2002 (colloquially known as "Ice Planet"). Bolstered by information obtained at great cost from the Spyrius network, the following profile for the Blacktron Hyperspace Renegade has been created. The operatives were only able to send a single data burst containing the images you are about to see, before transmission was abruptly cut off...
About this creation
Armament includes 8 multi-vector hardbeam laserlances (MVHL), 4 rear-facing light MVHL's, 4 front-firing EMP pulse cannons, 8 dorsal turret-mounted rocket tubes, and 2 assault MVHL's mounted on swing-out weapons pods.

The MVHL is the standard weapon of the Blacktron forces, as they allow for heavy damage at pinpoint accuracy. Blacktron gunners are particularly adept at shearing off engines or other vital system components while minimizing damage to potentially precious cargo. Despite the MVHL's high damage, accuracy, and firing arc, it does have a shorter range and firing duration than so-called "softbeam" lasers. The MVHL can only be fired in short bursts without risking permanent damage to the beam apertures.

Nevertheless, these weapons' limitations have not hindered Blacktron's ability to severely impact trade and industrial operations throughout colonized space and beyond.

Top front view of the vessel.

From the side, one gets a clear view of one of the outrigger pods; each one containing an engine, one of the 6 overlapping shield generators, and substantial weaponry. Space Police and planetary security forces would do well to target these pods should they encounter the Renegade in combat.

An unobstructed view of the vessel's advanced propulsion drive, the design of which can only be assumed to have been stolen by Blacktron, possibly from an alien race. (I believe this is known as "The Butt Shot.")

The Hyperspace Renegade's swing-out Assault MVHL's, able to be retracted for protection when not in use.

A close-up of the Renegade's dorsal hoverspeeder bay.

The advanced comm array.

A sophisticated sensor suite.

As seems to be the case with most Blacktron vessels, the Renegade carries multiple ground vehicles for increased mission flexibility and troop mobility in planetary operations.

One of two entrances into the crew cabin.

The final image captured by the Space Police operatives. We believe this to be one of Blacktron's new Aerial and Zero-Gravity Operations (AZGO) Droids. More intel is needed into the capabilities of this and other artificial intelligence units utilized by this reinvigorated Blacktron.

As you can see, the Hyperspace Renegade's offensive capabilities are quite formidable. This vessel should be considered a threat to peaceful galactic commerce throughout the galaxy...

This was my first attempt at SNOT building and at building something close to SHIP scale, after not having built anything for about a decade. This is not the first large Blacktron ship I've made (past attempts have been more on scale with the Deep Freeze Defender and Exploriens starship), but it's certainly the one I've spent the most time on. It was kind of a labor of love; I started designing this back in January and only just completed it. I am glad to be building again after 12 years in the Dark Ages, but also glad that this project is finally completed.

There are some obvious issues: the color-blocking is still a bit messier than I would like, the interior is crowded, and the landing gear is bare-bones and dreadful; but I am really pleased with how the engines turned out, I love the overall shape, and it's incredibly sturdy and swooshable. Overall, I am happy with the results, and re-learned a great deal about building in the process; should come in handy with future projects.

Now for some "behind the scenes" shots.

Showing access to the interior with a good old-fashioned topless shot; Hyperspace Renegade, hide your shame!

A bit crowded, but functional.

A less obstructed view of the crew cabin.

The stalwart crew of the Hyperspace Renegade, including the mysterious Admiral in the middle. A hardened veteran in the Blacktron Regime, he now requires extensive use of cybernetics to keep his body alive. His mind, however, is as keen as ever. He's also a fabulous classically-trained French pastry chef, but no one really ever asks. Truly a tortured soul.

Soldiers of the Blacktron Marine Corps. Nicknamed BM's, due to enemies' usual response of "Aw, crap" whenever BM's appear. At least, that's what the Marines tell themselves. Semper fi.

Due to the scout ship's placement at the front of the vessel and therefore high probability of coming into direct enemy fire, Blacktron High Command felt it more prudent to use a droid pilot to minimize loss of organic life. Droid Rights advocates have filed a formal petition.

Ah, the noble utility robots. Affectionately nicknamed "Jimmy" and "James," one has been programmed to be far more helpful than the other...

The remora to the Hyperspace Renegade's shark, this is the Advanced Assault, Recon, Operations droid, or AARO droid. Complete with magnets to transport aggressively acquired M-Tron cargo.

The Admiral on his hoverspeeder, used to quickly move around the battlefield. And during the downtime, for cruisin' and picking up women with a thing for cyborgs. For some reason, this shot really reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the West on her broomstick. Maybe it's the cape...

The aft ventral cargo hold, with variously spaced magnets to accommodate a variety of M-Tron cargo.

Along with the green-tinged photo above showing the AZGO Droid, this was an attempt at trying some different things out with lighting to get some more dramatic shots. I call this photo "Kevin goes for a stroll." Also, the droid's nickname is Kevin.

And here we were having fun with perspective and camera angles. Never hurts to have a group photo in with the collection, either.

Inspiration for some of the various design elements came from a number of places; including sundry bits of sci-fi literature and entertainment absorbed over the years, and the works of any number of people whose creations I have seen and admired across MOCPages and the interwebs.

Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think!

I hope you have won many contest with this ... Best SHIP a have seen ... Still looks like Blacktron, and even interior is very intricate. This is compliment, because, people who build SHIPs usually dont pay enough effort to interior or to authenticity to current theme ... you managed to do both. Saucer roof on the bridge is so sweet and whole trunk design is so original and composite ... 6/5 :D

Awesome. The scale is impressive, and I like the Blacktron colour scheme. I might have done the colour distribution differently (as you admitted), but I love the wing shape, the engines, and the overall swooshability.

This is a clearly a masterpiece. Great overall design: epic scale, creative shape and construction, incredible amount of features and details (weapons, instruments, interior, figs, bots, and auxiliary craft), good color balancing, and a very clever, dramatic and nostalgic write-up. I can't wait to see more from you.

Oh wow... that's sweet! I like the way you blend the old-school Blacktron elements with the new pieces! I wonder how the NEW Space Police will handle this. They're just trained to take down single criminals...

Quoting Sylvius BTronRmXr I really like what you have built. Great details ! I just got out of my dark ages too and the moc I've been designing last past weeks (still early WIP) is based on an universe close to yours. Maybe it will interest you when finished.
Definitely! Great to meet another person who also recently exited their Dark Ages!

Quoting Yuri Fassio Wow! A bit too white for my taste, but an AMAZING BTII nontheless! Frantic level of detai! Congratulations.
I appreciate it! I hear you on too much white; even as I was building it I said to myself, "Self, this is too much white." After working on this since January though, I think I just wanted to be done. :-) Oh well, notes for improvement on future BTII projects. I wasn't too sure when I was looking through the pictures if the details came through, but I'm glad to hear they did.

Quoting Nate Bush Yeah, I'm really liking this. It's an excellent debut MOC, and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you. By the way, I'm here because Uspez wrote in that group. You should join it.
Thank you! I hope to have some more MOC's up in the near future. I'm happy to say I'm getting married in a month, so it might be a while before I post something new. :-) Also, I just joined the group, and this should now be listed in the group creations.

Quoting Uspez Morbo Aggressive! This is very nice, the large size didn't stop you from sculpting a very interesting, impressive shape. The playability is really well done, especially the interior. I'll recommend you to the admins of the Nostalgia Factory group, this would fit right in.
I appreciate that, and would be honored to join the group! One of the big things I try to focus on is playability so I'm glad that aspect came through.

Quoting Rags naRock This is such a great shape and has so many great details. Blacktron II was one of the few space themes that I had the biggest ship from, and this is a great addition to the fleet. I agree that the landing gear is pretty sparse, but overall the engines, the windscreens and the weapons are all well thought out. It's ships like these I wish I could play with and have some great space battle!
This was the first MOC that I actually planned out and designed elements ahead of time. The exception? The landing gear. Go figure... Anywho, thank you for the comment!

Wow, that's actually rather impressive. You extended the normal Blacktron II theme by including robot/android and alien-like figures, used a mot of modern parts to create a more curved and accented design to the shape, and you also created a strong leader type character that fit within the already existing image of Blacktron II.
