a wokring UMP 45, with folding stock, detachable Reflex sight and loads more features
About this creation
well, heres another gun from me, after the long break (i was on holiday in Northumberland (UK), and so was away from any lego :(
anyway, this is another HK rifle, the UMP 45! UMP stands for (the german equivalent of) Universal Machine Pistol, and the gun was designed to be a budget version of the MP5, so you had a choice of quite good and cheap or very good and very expensive.
dont let this background make you think that the real gun is rubbish, though, because even though it is supposed to be a 'cheap' gun, it is a cheap gun by HK standards, so is still an excellent gun.
my gun uses my new mech, the same as in my G36K. in fact, most of the mech is unchanged, as i basically broke the G36 up leaving the stock and the main part of the reciever intact, and then built the gun off that. this meant that the build time was a lot shorter than normal, 1 day instead of 2.
-cocking handle slides forward after cocking
-2 massive 15 brick magazines
-folding stock (locks open and closed) (can also be removed)
-detachable Reflex sight
-backup iron sights
mech: pulling the bolt handle back moves he 'hammer' back, until it squeezes past the top brick in the magazine then gets locked behind it. the cocking handle moves back to the front after being released. then, when the trigger is pulled, the hammer is released, pushing the bullet forward, out of the magazine and into the barrel, where it flies down it and then exits at the end. the nature of the mech means that it is impossible to chamber a round then release the magazine, and then shoot, as the round is chambered when the trigger is pulled. in this respect it is not unlike a gun firing from the open bolt.
pics: the gun, left side
stock folded, left side
same, right side
gun with all accessories added (magazine, Reflex sight, and vertical foregrip)
gun with all accessories removed: 2 magazines, a Reflex sight and a vertical foregrip
the tw 15-brick magazines
the feed system allows the hammer to pass by on one side
the Reflex sight
the RIS (Rail Inegration System) that it sits on
the muzzle, fore sight, and cocking handle
aiming through the iron sights
two views of aiming throught the Reflex sight
stock detached. that pin is the centre of the hinge, so when you remove it, the stock just falls off.
FPS no stock, one handed (ie. Terminator style)
FPS with stock, aiming in a way that normal people can hit things (this is a .45, remember!)
the stock hinge
stock lock works same as in the G36K -
press it, and you can...
unlock it when its locked
the handle forward
the fore sight
the 'hammer'. note the slanted side to allow it to squeeze past the brick at the top of the mag
my usual field strip
the cocking handle pulled back. although its seperate from the hammer, i couldnt have it forward while the hammer was back, because the gun would have broken its-self, as the part holding the hammer down is on the removed side.
I think you are the best brick gun builder there is. Could you pls send me instructions? My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. And are the instructions LXF. Files? If they are then also send me a link to a down loader. Thank You.

Go watch the vid on Youtube. The mechanism works this way.
The quarter-ellipse piece is the hammer. The magazine is like one of those airsoft magazines (a magazine, and stopper on the top, making it impossible for the brick to spring out). The only way for the brick to get out is forward.
The stopper, or more precisely half-stopper, is half a stud thick. (the bolt is half a stud thick, and it needs to pass through the magazine to collect the brick)
It stops the ammo from springing out but once a bullet is removed from the magazine the next bullet fills the gap.
The bullets are only allowed to go out forward, as the bolt piece needs to go through the magazine.
The bolt itself is one of those half-width, 3x5 quarter-circle (or quarter-ellipse) liftarm pieces. It faces backward, and the sloped side of it allows it to go through A and I (the bullet stoppers). On its way back, the vertical side hits the brick, through A and I (the half-stoppers), and the block is pushed out by the bolt.
I think that is all I can explain because I might be wrong.
Paint image of the mechanism:
Awesome Jack. you've got talent. and to michael morabito. i dont think you should call your versions exact replicas, cause they're not. i mean dont get me wrong they're awesome guns but to be an exact replica it should have the same mechanism.
It's guns like this which make me want to destroy my Thompson, and build another one, I love this gun!!!

excellent gun again, but I've got something to say. you see, your bolt/single action guns are great, but c'mon a single action UMP45????. I mean it's nice, but not very convincing. You made a semi/fully automatic MP5 which fires rubberbands. Try making some more stuff like that cause that's very nice too. Back to the UMP45 I rate it 5/5!

I like the fact that the cocking handle slides forward again after cocking. On your G36K it wasn´t like this. I think you should make a MP5 again, but this time brickshooting. Maybe you could use 1x2 bricks that looks more like pistol ammo because it´s shorter.
