When I first put this star ship model together out of spare Lego parts I wasn't sure what the story behind it would be. I first conceived of it as a large personal yacht, owned by a wealthy merchant from a far away world. Then I thought it might be fit for a freighter. But on further thought I decided it should be a science and research vessel. So in my mind, it was at first a space yacht, and then after being sold it was refurbished and outfitted and relaunched as a science and deep space exploration vessel. So there you have it.
The brown section at the front houses the bridge, though you cannot see the bridge windows. You can see antennae dish and other scanner equipment in the center above the hull, and in the second to last photo, below the slanted silver hull, you can see openings to the small launch bays. Also, at the front of the ship, alongside and at the rear of the brown forward hull area, you can see maneuvering thrusters.
