After three years, this giant model is finally complete. This post is an update to last year's preview.
About this creation
Using over 45,000 LEGO bricks, a Manhattan gradeschooler and I have built a sculpture of Yankee Stadium over the past three years. It is 6 feet wide and 5 feet long, built to an approximate scale of 1:150.

Details
The building is built to look as it does to this day, including all of the modifications that were made over the history of the building (above).
The stadium is populated with over 1,700 little "microscale people". (Above)
The scoreboard is made using over 1,000 "light saber" rods, laid on top of each other so that only the round ends are showing.
Can you figure out what all the scoreboard ads are for?
An elevated train line runs alongside the stadium. It has a microscale New York City subway train and lots of traffic and crowds on the street below.
The elevated New York City Subway station behind the stadium. (With MetroCard machines!)
Underneath the elevated train tracks.
Close-ups
The seating behind the dugout opens up to show the Yankee's locker rooms.
"Monument park" (above) includes placards and monuments to famous Yankees players, like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Lou Gherig.
The invisible man watches the game from the upper deck.
A mime in the park across the street.
Baskeball in the park across the street.
The Simpsons head to the game.
What's this, inside one of the walls? A crazy man with a giant chansaw, aaa, run!!
Hidden behind in a secret compartment inside the stadium walls is The Manager's Throne Room.
Some micro-scale New York City buses and a taxi.
Working on the stadium
For three years, a Manhattan grade schooler and I built the stadium together. We began work in February 2006, working every weekend until it was complete in July 2009. The pictures below were taken during the course of 2006, 2007, and 2008.
AMAZING! :O I don't even like Baseball (or any sports, for that matter :P), but this is AMAZING!
For the ads: I found Starbucks Coffee, USPS, Microsoft Windows, Apple, Inc., LEGO and maybe DHL Global Mail?
Wow, you've got an ad in yankee stadium?!??! (that is yours right?) Lol, great job on this! All the little details are awesome, love the manager's throne room and the guy with the saw! Excellent job!
The only thing I can do now is sit in front of my PC and marvel. I feel that giving a five is like giving disrespect. it deserves like, maybe, 100000. (even that does not give it justice)
I may be the biggest hater of the Yankees in the world, BUT if anyone doesn't think this is the best LEGO creation in the world they should get life in jail. GREAT JOB! #1 thing on the site

A-ma-zing, who doesn't want to do this for a living ?
Holy OMG! This is like... Like... This is like the work of a REAL lego master! NO lego set that has came out in THIS world is as good as this! This page needs to be taken off for the safety of the elderly. You know, elderly person views page, then he/she is shocked out of their pants, and then they have a heart attack. Sad ending... So JUST KIDDING! Seriously this page is 100% awesome. 100M stars man.
Utterly amazing! I was just looking around, thinking about making a model of Atlas Arena, the pyramid stadium on Caprica. Looks like I might need to scale it down a bit. Anyway, outstanding work and thanks for MocPages!
This is awesome! I absoloutly love it. It is definetly the best creation on the whole site! I'm really happy some one made the old Yankee stadium in lego. GO YANKEES!
Wow, just wow!!!
You are a truely amazing architect!!! I wish I could even be as half as good as you! Could I possibly bother you for some tips on how to micro-scale, like this? Thanks!!
Hey Sean, I'm from Minnesota and I'm so glad that the new Target Field has opened,is there any chance you could build Target Field in Lego's.(It would be such an honor) Thanks. Adam
HOLY LEGOS Sean!!!!! (I faint) 5 min. later. Wow!!!! that is the coolest lego EVER!!!!! Words do not discribe the awsomeness in this lego. 20 thumbs up to you and Gordon!!!!!
this is awsome, theres no words for this, and i think its the last pis(the 1 with the close up of the batter) u can see dust lol, the only thing that a bother with LEGOS :)
These MOCs have that certain 'perzass' (What did I just say? I dunno) and your other MOCs are just the best. They always have high detail in them and I wish I had that many pieces (Including a building room!) Thanks for ,a decent, taking of my time. Malik.

Being a Red Sox fan, it's in my blood to hate the Yankees, but this is purely astounding Sean. Such detail in a huge creation like this is simply incredible.
Hey, I absolutely love what you did with the micro scale people. I havent seen that many techniques used! I didn't know they could be that detailed for such tiny guys. Good job.
PS out of curiosity does the kid you built it with have a mocpages account? If not, he should get one, if he was capable of building that with you.
Wow. That's simply outstanding! Great job Sean (And the kids who helped). I have something else to say too: This particular person http://mocpages.com/home.php/32096 has been uploading photos that aren't his. And he's been taking credit for it. Just thought I'd let you know.
AWSOME!!!!! This is soo cool, the trhone room is realy cool. I realy like the train's, they make it easy for the people to get to the stadium. Any way good work!
Absolutely genious! I never saw the real one(I'm not north-american, you know?),but I think it might be very similar to it... Can't believe that you've used so many lightsaber pieces... It must have taken you a lot of time and money... Congratulations for the patience too!
Loved the Simpsons, reminds me of an episode...
This is a fantastic example of the creativity and detail possible at the micro-scale level, even though there is nothing "micro" about the finished project itself. Thanks so much for letting us all see this great MOC. I can only wonder where on earth you are going to keep something that big long term!
wow wow wow!!!! great job! better than i was expecting... even though all ur stuff rox! p.s. the kid grew a bunch in the process of construction. LOL. I have waited so long for this stadium to finish. YAY!!!
Awesome!!! I love it!!! You have a lot of bricks!!!! How many bricks is in it? Would you mind checking out a few of my creations? AWESOME JOB DUDE!!!! 100 (well, for this there should be that many) little smiley glowing lego heads!!!! =)
Atleast in my opinion, this is literally the best lego creation i have ever laid eyes on while living here on this planet. Oh my God! It is so detailed with absolutely everything included in it, you are one, truley, amazing lego artist to build such a masterpiece for 3 years! Wow and i love how its Yankee Stadium since there my favorite team! Godly, flawless job on this, seriously!
I AM AMAZED! THREE YEARS I WOULD HAV GIVEN UP LIKE IN 6 MONTHS BUT THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST LEGO CREATION IVE SEEN 1,000,000/10 STARZ! LOL simpson at the yankee stadium
I never had the pleasure of seeing Yankee Stadium, and after seeing this, I realize I haven't missed much:p
All joking aside, this is truly a fabulous work of art. The attention to detail, the use of SNOT at home plate, just everything is fantastic. Absolutely jaw-dropping. This deserves National attention.....or at least the attention of NYC.
Once again, fantastic work.
Quoting Clefspeare .
I keep noticing something new about this thing every time I look at it.....
I also saw that you wrote a book called Cool Cars and Trucks. Looks pretty cool.
Yes, the book goes on sale in a few weeks. You can order it now and it will be delivered in September. http://www.seankenney.com/books/
this is awesome! i love the simpsons! ahnd the train! with all the little people, the dude with the chainsaw, and the lockerroom!after 3 years it sure did turn out great!

O-M-G! This is amazing! Truly, absolutely, astoundingly, breathtakingly, awsomely, greatly, grandly, miraculously, totaly, amazingly, completely, kool. Wow you just used up my entire list of adjectives! Like only two, wait three, other people have done that! (And one of them was built on the computer, this is way cooler.) And this definately beats them all! This is... I dont think I can express it in words! To bad Im not a Yankees fan. I live in Roswell NM (the alien town (O_O) for those who now it)and there isnt a profesional sports team in the state, and my mom is from Houston, so as a kid I went to alot of Astros games. The Yanks WERE kool, but today, to me, they are the big bully team that buys out all the players (the odd thing is I like the Dallas Cowboys.) Notice how as soon as Roger Clemens joins, BAM, roids! Oh well, you got yours, considering you havent won a world series since... well, I forgot, but hah!, take that Yankees! Sorry, I got kinda carried away there, no offense (seriously, PLEASE dont ban me?) Besides, thats just my personal opinion. This stadium kicks but and thats all there is to it! This is so kool and you put so much detail it blows me away. I cant believe there are 1,700 people! Or 1,000 rods in the scoreboard! I love the locker rooms! The manager's throne was a good idea! I love the mime! Youre invisible man is so kool! And the chainsaw dude is absolutely halarious! I've always loved the Simpsons so I was overjoyed when I saw them! Like I said, nothing I say gives it enough credt. Well there I go repeating myself, better stop before I bore you all. Peace out! =)
I'm not a Yankee's fan either, but it is a very good replica of a classic stadium! I love the Simpsons, the cameras, and the basketball court that you incorporated into the design. The micro-minifigure scale is fantastic! Awesome job!
Hey, my mom wants to know exactly what it means to be a Lego Master Builder, and she also wants to know if you get your bricks for free. Please e-mail me back at nwatson96@yahoo.com. (P.S., this is a pretty awesome MOC :])
I love this! I am native to new york and have visited the stadium- you captured it perfectly! Check out my channel to see the ten times less impressive- built on lego digital designer citi field (I made two seperate models of it)
P.S. sean, this is fantastic. I would love to see another ballpark (shea?) in the near future from you, this is SO awesome!
What's there to say? This is your best yet! You're probably not allowed to say what your commision was, but it must of been a huge amount. I am SO copying that microscale basketball goal design. I also love all those strange little details like the invisible man, the chainsaw guy, the simpsons, the mime, the squirrel going up the post, the throne room, and, of course, the hilarious score on the scoreboard! You make everybody else on the pages look like they're just 2-year-olds with Duplos. The one word that describes this? "Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious" :D
Absolutely stunning! The scope and detail of this thing is gonna be remmembered for many years to come. It looks just like the real thing from the long shots. How did you go about designing it? Did you use a CAD program or just experimented with the shape using real bricks?
Truly superb, makes me want to go back to NY right now. Like others have said, the litle details are especially wonderful: the Simpsons, the invisible man, the manager's throneroom.
Will this be displayed at the new Yankee stadium, or was this a private commission?
Fantastic. The street level detail really brings this amazing model to life!

And the bill bourd ads are for, Lego,USPS'Verizon,Apple and Sean Kenny art and target
OMG how many bricks did this take 1 millon cuse it looked like very hard work with u and 2 kids or 3 and u thats like the best model that iv seen but your nintindo dsi is still cool i like the little crazy guy and how u wrote it wats this a crazy guy with a big chansaw run ahhh thats funny.
Great job Sean, I had already posted, but wasn't the kid who was given the opportunity to build this able to do it from a present from his parents? Just wondering, because some other Mocers have asked how the person was picked...

Ha ha! Sorry, George, this was commissioned, so I really didn't have any say in what I was to build. :) Did you know that The LEGO Group built a Fenway? It's actually up at Fenway, and it's about the same size as this one.
After all these years the end result is astonishing. Amazing work the detail is amazing. Going through looking at all the pictures and commentary I was thinking it must have taken you another 3 years just to post this =)
Wow, and I thought the stadium was enough, but you went ahead and built the entire block! It's a wonderful memorial, and every little detail is perfect! I especially loved the ads you posted beyond the bleachers, including Apple, Verizon Wireless And even a little Target logo! Very detailed, and The use of "light saber" rods for the scoreboard was just pure genius. Most others would only use studs for something like that, but you went the extra mile. I really admire that. More details, like your small, yet accurate city vehicles, a manager secret throne room, and even the basketball court makes this Diorama even better!I noticed that you sort of bent the scale of some items in and around the field to make it look better, and I thought that it was an intelligent idea to do that! I really would never think of that! This most definitely is the best sports Moc to ever hit the large community of LEGO, and I'm shocked by the detail of this wonderful model. It's a great way to remember Yankee Stadium, and I know you don't usually do this, but I would love to see you create more sports-related creations! Again, terrific work, and never stop building. You are an inspiration to all, and will always be one of the most remarkable builders in the world of LEGO!
Great job making a huge Stadium! I love all the details, especially the invisible man =) Also just curious, but what will happen to the model? Will you own it or the kid?
Very awesome! The stadium looks great! I also like all the details, like that scoreboard and the ads. You must be very patient if this took 3 years to build.
I see Verizon, Target, Apple... I love the mime, the Simpsons are hilarious (Marge's do is as big as her body, if not bigger), and the batter and the catcher-person-thingy at home base are well done, too! It's all SO AWESOME!!!! This is one of your best MOCs, by far, Sean. Well, at least I think... 1,000 lightsaber rods?!?!? Wow!! You're losing by 12 points! Are you up to bat, or is it G. Goodwins team?
You are a genius, Sean. Great job on the build! Make sure you tell that Gordon to come on over to MOCpages or Flickr and throw out some of his personal creations on the web. For a 12 year old the kid is really good. -Dylan
If that guy is invisible, why does he not watch from close up? No one would see him getting more bang for his buck. And then he could steal those expensive pretzels. Good jo...no, GREAT job!
At last is done, and wow it is a mouster! incredible level of detail, I just end up speechless. Could I possibly give more than 5 lego happy faces? say 100/5
wow once again! i read your blog and you were on tv for this! thats awsome! another person in milwakee was on tv about a year back for making millers stadeum MINIFIG size! but i really like all the little details you put in here!
Is this the old Yankee Stadium or the new one? If you've been working on it for three years I assume it's the old one. A pity that the real-life one gets torn down right before you finish your rendition.
Just absolutely amazing! It is just so perfect! I have been to Yankee stadium once, and from what I remember, you just hit the nail directly on the head! 5,000,000/5!
