Micro-scale Venator-class Star Destroyer Version 3
Updated to Version 3....
About this creation
I know it's a bit redundant, but I've been really, really busy lately, what with real life, the Private Round, and a couple other things. So, I did a major upgrade to my Venator, and, with the judge's permission, I've entered into Round 3 [of the 2010 Star Wars Tournament]....

Why choose Legoarts?

Armament

With enough firepower to turn a civilization to molten slag, our Venator sports 8 turbolaser batteries, 2 light laser batteries, and our latest addition, 4 proton torpedo tubes.

Propulsion

Consuming more energy per second than a planet can in a lifetime, the new Venator cruises smoothly across the galaxy, complete with surround sound stereo and holo player. But-uh-the stereo isn't 'propulsion'.

Capacity

You want room? You got room. With a new grappling claw to secure a corvette and fully opening dorsal bay, this Venator can carry enough troops to conquer...uh...whatever you want!*
*Legoarts does not guarantee successful conqueration of...uh...that stuff.

Armor

With even more plating and an even stronger superstructure, our latest Venator looks and performs better than ever.

Detail

Our newest grand addition to this Venator is a fully detailed bottom hull. Revel in it's detail. Marvel at it's colors! Delight at the sight of it's greebles!

Suspension

As with our previous cruiser, full suspension means that the Venator floats on thin air....

I know the difficulty cramming so many details into such a small frame and still making it look good, but you have absolutely NAILED it! I'm very impressed and wish you good luck on the contests!

Congrats on MOTD! Very nice work, you've managed to get a LOT of detail into such a small model. And although it's a bit thick, speaking from experience, the Venator is a pain in the neck to try and build to the correct proportions, especially at this small of a scale (I've never seen one at this size that was both angular and the correct thickness) So, kudos for the great build... I really enjoy seeing a good Jedi Cruiser...

Quoting Tbone tbl Do you have an e-mail address or some other way to keep up? (if it's okay)
When it's MY turn to go to college, yeah, I will; but not 'til then. :-( Like I said, blame Mr. Marks.

I completely missed this version. The opening doors are a terrific touch. The plating on the side keeps getting better along with everything else. Sorry I've been so inactive on mocpages. I actually start college this fall, so I will have an even harder time building things. Do you have an e-mail address or some other way to keep up? (if it's okay)

This would look REALLY good in my collection. I have been hesitant about buying the official Lego version because I feel it is a bit "off" in many respects. I understand why they made their compromises but they are compromises just the same. This model compromises far less. I know I cannot be the only one to want a parts list/inventory and some sort of assembly documentation. It would be a terrific service to everyone here who admires your work!

Quoting Joshua Benjamin This thing looks sweet, in fact it looks more detailed and realistic than most large Venators =). Also, how does battle damage make this large round bulge pop out =P
The surface isn't bulgy. It's perfectly flat and correctly angled, just thicker. It could be extra armor, patching, emergency repairs, custom equipment, who knows what. What matters is that it make the ship have a history.

to the people, who think this isn't micro, think about what true minifig scale is...it's micro. Now I actually don't like the tail boom, between the engines, I don't think it looks right. But the rest of it is great, you used some very nice snot techniques for the whole bridge area, and the slant of the hull is nice also. Greebles are nicely done, as is the playability of the accurate hangar. And I love the sight of all those hands on the turrets, there beautiful. ahem. Very nicely done.
