1980 Audi Ur-Quattro
My largest car I've ever built from scratch, and one of my best.
About this creation
One of Audi's premiere models of the 80's, and one of my personal favorite Audis of all time, the Audi Quattro. Drive train is a 2.1 litre inline-5 cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It was also a premiere rally car, due to it's permanent 4-wheel-drive system. Starting out on my creation is the front grille, a favorite of my components of this car. It has the traditional four rings in the grille, and behind the clear headlight lenses is the actual headlight design. In the engine compartment there is a hood stand, which lays down and clips into a piece when the hood is down. When it is up, it can be simply unclipped and placed. On top of the fenderwells you can see the top of the strut towers. On the right you can see the fluid containers. On the left of the engine is the turbocharger. Back on the right, underneath the black cover is the battery. Moving to the interior... the dash was quite hard to recreate, and I made it into two separate pieces. The are with the steering wheel and HUD is four studs wide, and I placed a 1x2 hinge beneath it to angle it upwards. The other 6 studs of the dash are simpe, with just two A/C/Heat vents. Down below the dash are the A/C and heat/radio controls. Of course, I had to put the fuzzy dice over the rearview mirror, as I did in my Flechette. XD The seats have high backrest bolsters and a reclining feature. The backseat is nothing special, just plates attached together with hinges. The trunk is a bit of a catch. Unfortunately, in my research I found nothing to tell me how the rear trunk opened, if the whole rear window lifted up as well, or just the metal piece. I found out after I finished the car that only the lower piece opened, but my model has the entire window lifting up. I tried fixing this, but I did not like the results, so it will stay the way it currently is. The rear bumper has reflectors built in. The tag is a Euroupean style, because I like the tags... XD On the undercarriage there is the transmission, drivetrain, differential, and exhaust system. The exhaust is one of my favorite features on this car.

You may notice some difference in photos from my last creations. I have taken a suggestion from Firas to do my photography outdoors in natural light. I like the results, although I apologize for the quality of some photos which have turned out a bit blurry.

Better get used to this view... once you see it- on or off the road- this car is gone!

Thanks for viewing! I hope you enjoyed...

Quoting Rolands Kirpis Exelennt!!! Love this car and love this MOC. Suggestion - try to use arcs instead of slopes for the wheel arcs. It may look even more beautiful
Unfortunately I do not own any arch pieces... I just have the black fender pieces from the big rig set. I'm not able to order new pieces when I build my models, so I'm just working from currently owned pieces.

Thanks everyone for the great comments! I personally love this car... It's very gratifying. I have not recieved this much activity on a creation before. Unfortunately building this large of a model has put a VERY large dent in my amount of pieces, I have to dismantle it before I build something else, so there may not be another creation besides another version of this car for a while... XD @ Firas, The rear windshield was a nice surprise for me. I was hoping that angle of pieces would work... I do wish I could have made the trunk open realistically though, and that's my biggest prob with my car. I really like the results for the outdoor photography, though I may still do indoor photography for smaller models, so it's easier to focus on the car itself, but I'll be more careful with flash angles. @ Johanne, I have several models lined up for the next few weeks, such as the Tresser convertible, a Phoenix Design custom, a rally version, a Pikes Peak version, and possibly a Sport version.

Wow man! I'm really impressed by this one from you, it's hard to show big improvements in a short time, but you did even better... you've captured the overall shape and spirit of this classic car very well, great work on the front end, sloping of the rear windshield also worked out very well with you, not to mention the great work of the functional elements specially on the rear trunk... finally you made a great decision to tae this beauty outdoors, thanks for considering my opinion, and it turned out really good and way better than photos using the camera flash... Keep on the great level you've reached >>> peace.. Firas
