FLL Edmonton 2006
The FLL 2006 show at Louis St. Laurent school in Edmonton.
About this creation
NALUG (North Alberta Lego Users Group) was asked to set up a display at the Alberta First Lego League tournament. Needless to say, it was a much bigger event than expected (to see just how big, look at the pics!) Me, John, Nadine, and Blaine managed to bring models, and another of our club members (i forget who he was, another John?)showed up for some of the afternoon.
They did say we could set up from 7 until 4, but they cleaned up around 2 and we were almost locked out of the display area (with John's crane still inside).
The show was a real hit. The kids and their parents loved the stuff, we loved showing it, and the people at the Spectrum table loved the exposure they got (and some of us bought stuff :) )
There's more pics on the other page.

The audience. This is just the AUDIENCE. There were tons of people on the teams!

A view of the main stage, showing the tables the Mindstorms were on. We didn't actually get to see the competition.

This was the food table. It was right outside of the display/eating area.

Some kids stare in awe at John's crane.

   My parking garage. Yay!

Some technic models Nadine and John brought.

The Mythbusters, Adam and Jamie, mess around with the sample section of John's crane.

Blaine poses with his models. He brought so much stuff he got his own table.

   A fig's eye veiw of John's crane.

Our Do Not Touch sign. We had to put this up aboput 20 minutes in the show, as all the kids were touching.

Blaine's AT-AT. It moved around just like the ones in the movies.

Someone actually took a picture of my parking garage!

The Spectrum table. Here, they had spare parts packs and Dacta kits set out.

Some kids bending over the Do Not Touch sign to touch Nadine's space shuttle.

Nadine shows how her space shuttle works to tons of people. It was busy.

John shows people his crane. Show-off.

The set I bought at the Spectrum table-one of the promotional Astrobot minifigs.

The team pit area, the smelly place where the teams made last-minute adjustments to their robots.

   A banner! Woohoo!

   Astrobot Sandy says hi.

Another kid, marvelling at John's crane.

NAIT had a display with non-Lego robots. It was kinda fun watching the bot smash the little clear one.

   CRASH!

The E-lab lkits Spectrum had. Recognize the containers?

Another one of the displays. I assume the MindStorms bot went up the ramp and on the boat.

   The eating/display area.

The kids liked playing with Blaine's Spybot.

   Blaine's table.

Another gratuitous shot of john's crane.

   John and his masterpiece.

Blaine's Mushi Mushi attacks his foot.

A scale shot of the top of john's crane. Hello, Technic guy!

The sensors at the Spectrum table. They had temperature and rotation sensors!

Some of the spare part bags at the Spectrum table.

Blaine's calculator. It doesn't work yet, though.

Our beautiful sign that takes 5 minutes to put together and has massive quantities of green brick on the back of it.

   The little clear NAIT bots.

The bots that attacket the little clear NAIT bots.

Little motor. Say hi, little motor!

Blaine's Carbot, driving away. Be free, carbot!

The bottom of Blaine's Rolling 3-Wheeled Turntable Car-Like Thingamabob.

   Gearing on John's crane.

Volunteers take the round tables away.
Huzzah! Now there's more room for Blaine's bots!

This guy pushed these two girls on the dolly. And they screamed.
