While the rest of the galaxy crawls around on old WWI looking tanks, the Tau zip through the air on sleek, deadly hovertanks. This is a tiny Devilfish troop transport, the lesser armored variant of the hovertank.
As you may have noticed, I am really lazy and try to avoid building large scale ships when I have the choice. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but mini has always been my calling. Plus I'm damn good at it, if I may say so myself.
I whipped this tank up in a little more than 20 minutes because I needed something for my mini Valkyrie to fight with. Funny, it was really more of an afterthought than a planned build.
The rear. Note the soot stained thrusters, just like in the model.
The little troop bay can actually open. Now I just need some micro fire warriors to run out the back...
A comparison between the official model and mine. My older brother plays the Tau, and he lets me manhandle his models for photos and things.
A variant of the Devilfish is the Hammerhead Gunship . These tanks are armed with a deadly rail cannon, similar to that found on a Broadside.
The Skyray is another variation. This one is loaded with a set of anti-air missiles. Very proficient at destroying aircraft.
Despite the small size the resemblance is uncanny. The Skyray is a little off, but the others are perfect. Build a lot of these with Bricklinked parts and you could have a 40K Epic game for maybe 1/100 the price of the same GW miniatures. Heck, I might even do it. Awesome work.
