Third version of the Imperial base, much bigger and better than before !
About this creation
-----> This base is now obsolete - I've just finished making the *even bigger* version 4 ! Check it out - it's way better :)
***for the lazy people who can't be bothered to read the description, just scroll down and there are about fifty million photos at the bottom.***
Hi,
I've just finished working on the third version of my Imperial Forest Base.
Those of you who have known the earlier versions might notice that for this second upgrade, I tried to use the same 'recycle and expand' strategy, re-using as many parts from the old version as I could to keep it recognisable whilst also making it bigger and adding new stuff to improve it. those of you who don't know the older versions might want to look at them to compare; I never delete old MOCs even if the model's been disassembled in real life, so you can still see them if you're curious :)
The base is about twice as big as the last version (roughly 4 times bigger than the first) and now actually resembles a sort-of base (the first looking more like a camp and the second hardly worthy of the name 'outpost'...) , with a big command building and garage, and a whole bunch of other stuff...
Please also appreciate the fact that I don't have a great deal of lego, nor the funds to buy a great deal of lego so this is yet another case of making do with what I have, which is mostly old stuff, and seeing my shortage of greay brcks, the walls are made out of plates instead (which sort of worked out OK in the end)
There are about 20 million photos as there's a lot to show, so please excuse me if I can't be bothered to upload them in some sort of order with a commentary for each. I'll just write the interesting stuff here, and add all the photos at the end for you. Consider it some not-so-fun game, trying to match the captions with the photos...
---------------------------
They've finally thought of taking some advantage of the water and got a fun-looking jet ski with a front mounted cannon (the jet ski was made by my little brother with a couple of tiny modifications by myself).
Some stormtroopers seem to like to enjoy the water for other purposes too... since when did they issue fishing rods ?
---------------------------
The barbecue has been properly installed now, still with the beer dispenser next to it. you can still see the old power generator for the base behind it from the older versions.
Now there's a proper seating area for eating... but what's this ? they receive all these funds, build a nice big base, and we're still eating nothing but fried eggs ?
---------------------------
They've now invested in a second Gameboy for entertainment, and even a link cable ! I hope they're doinf a two-player Super Mario game and not swapping gay pokemon...
---------------------------
Inside the main buidling, on the ground floor, is the toilet, let's check it out. [...]
" hey get that bleedin' camera away ! I'm trying to have a dump !" ... ok sorry,; let's wait till he's done. [...] well, it's a standard loo, butt-wipe dispenser and basin. Come on, everyone needs trivialities. How many other bases have you seen with toilets ? I feel sorry for all those constipated stromtroopers out there on MOCpages... at least mine get to relieve themselves....I tried to think of putting normal evberyday things in here like toilets and food, but I forgot the beds :) erm... think quick... er, they're downstairs, in the basement. there's no ladder there because it's a trapdoor in the floor that you can't see because it's flat, flush with the floor baseplate... good enough excuse ?
---------------------------
The rest of the ground floor is essentially one big open space split into two parts; the first being the armoury ("look at all those guns!" says the scout trooper) with a small inventory shelf opposite; the other, main part of the ground floor is the garage. I tried to add some detail in here, of course there are the speeder bikes, and also fuel dispensers, a fire extinguiers, a big worktable with lots of tools attached to the wall, a washbasin for greasy hands after working on stuff, some... machanical looking 'things' mostly for decoration, the big 501 on the back wall (I know, this doesn't looks like the kind of place Vader's elite troopers would stay but it was the first stormtrooper legion number that came to mind)
---------------------------
Upstairs, we come to a smallplatform looking over the garage, and in one corner, an engineer working some sort of instrument panel. Let's suppose he's doing something useful.
Next room is the Nerd Room , full of computer panels and gizmotrons and stuff, witha bunch of geeky techs hopefully doing something they're supposed to and now downloading films or playing world of warcraft or something...
---------------------------
Aah, the base commander's private room :)
I had some fun with this... like most imperial commanders are portrayed as liking their superiority and enjoying priviliges that the standard imperials don't have, I did that here too. Look at his nice big desk, with holonet system and even a coffee mug...
Across one wall, he has a safe and emergency blaster rifle, and a ... pot of pink flowers !? what a wuss...
He also had a huge TV and a state-of-the-art Nintendo Entertainment System, you can see him playing Pong ! (to the geeks : I know, pong was on atari, and I made a nintendo. Make super mario bros on a 4x5 lego TV and then we'll talk.)
--------------------------
Not sure what else to add... there are loudspeakers/alarms outside and in the garage in case of an alert, I made the communications dish on a bigger, taller rock formation this time, the landing pad on stilts in the water for the Imperial Dropship has been removed in favor for a more practical anding pad on the ground next to the building (this is the only big thing I removed from the last version, recycling pretty much all the rest)...
Erm, not much else, really... just sit back, have fun, go through the various photos of differet parts of the base, enjoy, and I really hope you like it !
- Dan

P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=stacey_love )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !

Well, the inside is very detailed, but the outside is.....very barren. May I suggest more trees and foliage?
I totally I agree with you :)
the reason is, I run out of trees and foliage. I used every bit had.
Just as it has grown twice before when I've obtained more lego; I hope that this base will be able to be furhter extended in the future if I ever come across more cheap boxes of lego at flea markets etc...

Absolutely awesome! You must have tons of Lego dude, do you like have a room devoted to it or..? This is a masterpiece, as well as many of your other creations...
Thanks a lot ! I really appreciate it when people like my stuff :)
Yep, tons of lego... though I can't remember the last time I bought it new... mostly I buy second hand boxes of lego at flea markets cheap... sometimes it's boring bricks sometimes there are some very nice sets mixed in there...
As for a 'lego room' I just use my increasingly filled up bedroom. |

AWESOME ! Excellent !!! |
